Verhovay Journal PAGE 15 Joseph Szalay’s duly seconded motion which was approved, granting the Legal Adviser a $3,000 yearly fee, upon subsequent motion, duly seconded, is rescinded, and the motion of National Auditor John Sabo, which is duly seconded, granting the Legal Adviser a yearly fee of $3,500, is carried. Joseph Szalay’s duly seconded motion is approved granting the Chief Medical Adviser an annual fee of $3,500. 156. Upon motion made and duly seconded the Convention sets the future per diem fee at $30.00. 157. National Auditor Sabo makes a motion, which is duly seconded, for the acceptance of the following three points: 1. Immediate funding of all past service pension reserves. 2. Authorization for contributions to the pension fund for future service pensions. 3. Immediate funding of all required reserves for the two retiring Verhovay National Officers. The above three points are unanimously approved by the Convention. 158. Upon Vice President Dr. Andrew Kovács’ motion, which is duly seconded, the Convention unanimously approves granting of $500 to Elm­hurst College, Elmhurst, Illinois. 359. Vice President Dr. Andrew Kovács makes a motion, which is duly seconded, that the American Hungarian Federation be voted an annual contribution of $1,000. The motion is unanimously carried. 360. National Auditor Sabc makes a motion, which is duly seconded, that this stay in effect only until the next meeting of the Board of Directors, when the new Board will have the right to increase this original amount. The Convention unanimously approves the motion. 161. A motion made and duly seconded that two members shall repre­sent Verhovay in the American Hungarian Federation is adopted. The appointment of these two representatives will be made by the Board of Directors. 362. Upon the motion of Michael Simo, which is duly seconded, the Convention awards $300 to Emery Florian, Convention stenographer. 163'. William C. Kohut conveys a request to the Board of Directors that in the selection of a Legal Adviser it keep in mind the three years of devoted service by Guy B. Panes. 164, The Convention approves the motion of James Készéi, which motion is duly seconded, that the Chairman, Frank Radvanv, receive $200, and Joseph Miller, Jr. and John Kostyo, the Vice-Chairmen, each $25.00. 365. James Keszei’s motion, which is duly seconded, is unanimously ap­proved to award $100 to Julius J. Lenart, Convention Secretary. 166. Julius J. Lenart. Convention Secretary, Joseph Miller, Jr. and John Kostyo, Vice-Chairmen, announce to the Convention that they are donating the full amount of their awards to the Association’s welfare fund for the aged. 167. National Secretary Coloman Revesz requests the Convention to award the following members of the Home Office staff for their extra Convention services the amounts specified: Frank J. Cher, $100; Albert Jozik, $50; Miss Frances Furedy, $50; Mrs. Elizabeth Frideczky, $50; Mrs. Dorothy Toth, $50. The request is unanimously approved. 168. Julius Danch requests the Convention to take into consideration his suggestion pertaining to future bowling tournaments. This matter is put into the hands of the future Board of Directors. 169. Chairman Radvany orders the election of the National Officers. 170. Director Aloysius C. Falussy makes a motion, which is duly seconded, that the Convention members elect by unanimous acclamation the officers who have loyally, zealously and with efficiency carried out their duties — Coloman Revesz for National President and John Sabo for National Auditor: The motion is unanimously carried. 171. The Chairman, in view of the action expressed in the preceding point 170, declares the election of Coloman Revesz as National President and John Sabo as National Auditor. 172. The Chairman appoints the following to the Election Committee: Miss Elvira László, John J. Inglesby and Joseph Semetko. 173. Chairman Radvany requests the delegates to make nominations for the office of Vice President. John P. Kelemen nominates Julius Macker and Albert Ibos nominates Aloysius C. Falussy. The results of the election are as follows: Julius Macker, 60 votes; Aloysius C. Falussy, 60 votes. Since it is a tied vote, the Chairman must cast the tie-breaking vote. Chairman Radvany votes for Julius Macker, who is thereby elected Vice President. 174. The election of Directors is held. In as much as there are five sets of tied votes in the voting for Alter­nate Directors, Chairman Radvany decides the order of precedence in so far as the tied votes are concerned. After point 146 the following is to be inserted: Stephen Matasy, delegate from district 17-C, for the purpose of the record, spreads upon the minutes the following: “Whereas, the letter from the home office does not make provisions for conditional acceptance of the proposed By-Laws between the “Rákóczi’’ Association and “Verhovay” Association and it is also silent., whether or no, the acceptance thereof is based upon the merger being completed and as an expression, and for the purpose of clarity and in conformance with the present existing Constitution and By-Laws of the “Verhovay” Association Branch 21 members reject any changes in the By-Laws of the “Verhovay Fraternal Insurance Association” and their vote is “No” as to the acceptance of the proposed constitution and By-Laws of the “William Penn Fraternal Association” unless the merger is completed.” 176. Andrew Fay-Fisher makes a motion, which is duly seconded, that the Convention unanimously acclaim the reelection of Gaspar Papp, William C. Kohut and Andrew Bandy as members of the Auditing Committee. The motion is unanimously carried. 177. The election of the two members of the Disciplinary Committee takes place. The following are nominated, and the first two of the three listed below are elected, with number of votes received: John -Zakopcsan Chairman 60 Joseph Drotos 53 Stephen Borovich 40 178. The election of the three members of the Council of Appeals takes place. After the elections are completed, National President John Bencze reads the text of the oath, and the newly elected officers take the official oath. National President Bencze wishes the new officers much success. 180. National Secretary Coloman Revesz and National Auditor John Sabo express their profound gratitude to the delegates for the confidence placed in them by the delegates. 181. The Chairman asks delegates Charles Kuhn and Stephen Illés to appear at the Home Office on Monday for the purpose of reading and certifying the minutes of the last day’s session. , 182. The Chairman thanks the delegates, the Board of Directors, the National Officers and the Auditing Committee for their excellent work, with which they greatly aided in the successful completion of the enormous and difficult assignments placed before the Convention. 183. The assembled members of the Convention sing the National Anthem and the Hungarian National Anthem. The event was fairly well attended. This was the first time that such an event was held on a Sunday. The general opinion seems to be that Saturday night is still the best time for a dance. cordially invited to take these affairs. part in At a recent meeting of the bowl­ing league, the deadline for accepting new bowlers was extended to the last day of November. After this date no new bowlers will be permit­ted to bowl. The music as furnished by the combined talents of Joseph Baldwin and Arthur Nag'y and their or­chestra which was warmly received. This event was sponsored by and for the benefit of the Verhovay Mixed Ten Pin League. League pre­sident Nick Polombo wishes to thank all who assisted in the preparations and the members and guests who helped to make the Harvest Dance a success. * ¥ * The bowling league is planning a chicken dinner for Saturday, No­vember 19th. On Friday, December 2, a Fish Fry will be held. For only $1.00 one can have all the fish and beer that one can eat. If this affair proves suc­cessful, fish fries will be held reg­ularly. Members and their guests are Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rovnanik on the birth of a son... to Mr. and Mrs. Michael Fazekas of Harwick on the birth of a daughter ... and to Mr. and Mrs. Borys Gosciejew on the arrival of a son. Mrs. Gosciejew is the form­er Helen Üveges. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Mrs. Joseph Magyar who suffered a heart attack. She is now convalesc­ing at her home___Mr. Vendel Koosz is ill at home in Blawnox. Congratulations to Mr. William Blizman who was awarded the Illus­trious Member citation at the most recent meeting of the Board of Di­rectors.
