J.: Joseph Wersits; Branch 336, Harrisburg, Pa.: Alex Pabiankovitz, James Nagy, Field Supervisor Frank Cher. The meeting is called together by district chairman James Nagy at 10:30 A.M. Frank Toth, president of host Branch 159, welcomes the assemblage. District chairman Nagy requests the reading of the minutes of the previous district meeting held June 10, 1951 in Philadelphia, Pa., which were fully approved. Nominations for chairman and recorder for the third district for the next four years are made, the results being: James Nagy, chairipan, Stephen Szemes, Jr., recorder. Field Supervisor Frank Cher gives an enlightening talk on the duties of the delegates. District chairman Nagy brings up the expense and difficulty involved in changing the name of the Verhovay Home in Harrisburg, Pa. As other branches will be similarly affected, it is advised that this matter be sub- , mitted to the National Convention for solution. The Third District Meeting unanimously accepts the Bylaws as amended by the coming National Convention. The meeting approves the motion that the age limit of new applicants be raised to 65, to replace the age 60 limit now in effect. The motion that new applicants produce proof of date of birth, to eliminate complications involved after death of member when benefit is to be paid, is tabled. The meeting recommends that no present member of the Board of Directors can be re-elected to the Board unless he is a representative delegate of his district. The meeting approves the motion that expenditures to conduct the National Bowling Tournament be reduced or eliminated, because the organization does not benefit from these expenditures. Nominated as delegates to the National Convention: Anthony Noel, Frank Toth, Stephen Szemes, Jr., Alex Fabiankovitz. Elected with the following votes are: Stephen Szemes, Jr., 9; Frank Toth, 8; Anthony Noel, 6. Alex Fabiankovitz, 4 votes, is named first alternate, and Michael Mihalo and Louis Papp are nominated and elected as alternates. The meeting is adjourned at 12:30 P.M. —JAMES NAGY STEPHEN SZEMES, Jr. District Chairman District Recorder District 4 The meeting is held on June 19, 1955 at the Rákóczi Hall in Phillips-burg, N. J. George Foldessy, chairman pro tern., opens the meeting, Welcomes the delegates to the session and requests that credentials be checked. Attending the session are: Joseph Kardos and John Danes, Branch 90, Allentown, Pa.; Stephen Vayda, Louis Szabó and Alex Balog, Branch 133,' Phillipsburg, N. J.; George Foldessy, Branch 9, Franklin, N. J. There is no representation from Branch 420, Nazareth, Pa., the branch not sending a delegate. The minutes of the previous session are read and accepted. Messrs. Foldessy, Vayda and Szabó are elected district chairman, district recorder and vice president, respectively. The new proposals set forth by the Board of Directors is now read. The delegates, after brief discussion, heartily endorse the merger with the Rákóczi Aid Association. In the form of further proposals, the delegates from Allentown and Phillipsburg propose that any member who has paid dues for fifty years be relieved of further payment of dues (whole life certificates). The delegates agree that this would show true fraternalism. The question of dividends, which has been a ticklish subject for years, is discussed at length by Field Supervisor Tibor Jász, honored guest at this meeting. Next, delegate Szabó proposes that the National Officers be paid traveling expenses without the per diem fees, which too they get at present. District 4 goes on record for this proposal., Delegates Balog and Szabó propose that after 300 adult members one delegate should be sent to the National Convention, also 100 to 150 members; one delegate to the district sessions and one delegate thereafter for every 50 members, it is believed that the membership would have a much better representation a* the National Convention and the District Sessions if this proposal be accepted. Finally, nominations and elections are held for the delegates to the National Convention. Joseph Kardos, Branch 90, and Stephen Vayda, Branch 133, are elected delegates; George Foldessy, Branch 9, and Louis Szabó, Branch 133, are elected first and second alternate delegates, respectively. —STEPHEN VAYDA, District Recorder District 5-B The meeting is held on June 5, 1955 in the auditorium of St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, Scranton, Pa. District chairman is Louis Sarkozy, president of Branch 174, Scranton, Pa.; district recorder is Anthony Rocz, manager of Branch 174. Mr. Rocz is elected delegate to the National Convention and Mr. Sarkozy is elected alternate delegate. Only important discussion is the restoration of dividends to members having certificates before 1949. —ANTHONY ROCZ, District Recorder District 6 The meeting is held on June 5, 1955 in the school hall of the Hungarian Presbyterian Church, Lackawanna, N. Y. Present are: John Beky, Branch 84, Lackawanna, N.Y.; Joseph A. Shipos, Branch 221, Ithaca, N.Y.; Michael Nagy, Branch 290, Depew, N.Y. Absent are the delegates from Branches 67 and 405, Erie, Pa. District recorder John Beky greets in the name of the 6th District the attending delegates, notes the guest presence of Auditing Committeeman Andrew Bandy, and opens the meeting. He next summarizes the purpose of the meeting: 1. the election of the district officers; 2. discussion of the amendments to the Bylaws; 3. election of the Convention delegate and alternate delegate; 4. new proposals to be made, to the National Convention. July 20, 1955. » Joseph A. Shipos and John Beky are unanimously elected district chairman and district recorder, respectively; John Beky is elected delegate to the Verhovay Convention and Michael Nagy elected alternate delegate. The meeting unanimously accepts the new Bylaws, with the exception of the third paragraph of Section 8, Chapter II. It is proposed that the third paragraph of Section 8, Chapter II, be changed to read as follows: ‘Members have the option of paying dues on a monthly, quarterly, semiannual or annual basis” ... The Convention delegate is instructed to back the new name of the organization and act in any other manner for the best interests of the society. The session is then adjourned. —JOSEPH A. SHIPOS —JOHN BEKY District Chairman District Recorder District 6-B The meeting is held on June 2, 1955 in the office of Branch 383, Buffalo, New York. Branch 383 president Joseph Taylor opens the meeting at 7:30 P.M., asking the members to name a delegate to the National Convention. Nominations are made as follows: By John Hangonyi for Joseph Taylor; by Aladar Agacz for Dr. John Juhasz. The motions are seconded, by John Drotar and John Beleznay, and the nominations are closed on the motion of Joseph Szallars. By a vote of 68 to 31, president Joseph Taylor is elected to represent Branch 383 at the National Convention. On the motion of vice president Nicholas Nagy, Dr. John Juhasz is unanimously elected alternate delegate. By recommendation of John Drotar, the 100 members who are at this meeting unanimously agree that should the merger fail, the delegate is to use all his power to effect the re-election of National President John Bencze. Dr. John Juhasz makes the motion and president Joseph Taylor seconds it that District Manager Kalman J. Erdeky, manager of Branch 383, be compensated by the Home Office the sum of $20.00 for his work and the use of his premises for this meeting. The motion by John Beleznay to close the meeting is seconded and carried. —JOSEPH J. TAYLOR —KALMAN J. ERDEKY Chairman Recorder District 8 The meeting is held on June 12, 1956 at Coraopolis, Pa. District chairman Moses Bokor welcomes those present and district recorder Steven Borovich checks the certificates of elections. Messrs. Bokor and Borovich are re-elected as district officers. The minutes of the last meeting are read and approved. The chairman requests the delegates to rise and stand in silence in respect to the memory of three deceased delegates, Michael Molnár, Frank Nagy and Leopold Hirsch. The meeting asks that the following amendments be placed before the National Convention: Change the present $1000 policy requirement for a Convention delegate to $500; Creation of a fund for the payment of premiums of members age 75 holding whole life certificates for 35 years. Moses Bokor, Steven Borovich, Anthony Borsody and Andrew Fay Fisher are elected Convention delegates. John Fulop, Jr., Mrs. John Gazdik and Paul Floyd, Jr. are elected alternate delegates. The meeting is adjourned. —MOSES BOKOR —STEVEN BOROVICH District Chairman District Recorder District 8-B The meeting is held on June 12, 1955 at Beaver Falls, Pa. Martin Szeles is elected delegate to represent Branch 39 at the National Convention. —MARTIN SZELES District Recorder DISTRICT 8-C The meeting is held on June 12, 1955 at the Hungarian Social Club hail Pittsburgh, Pa. . The session is opened by George Mészáros, president, who greets the members and outlines the purposes. He then asks for the election of the district chairman and the district recorder. By unanimous assent, Mr. Mészáros is named to conduct the meeting. National President John Bencze, who is a member of' Branch 34, acquaints the meeting body with the circumstances of the Verhovay-Rak*>czi merger, adding information on the events and voting at the Rákóczi convention held in Bridgeport, Connecticut June 6th. His audience is impressed by the report. Nominated for Convention delegate are George Mészáros and John Demko. Election officials are Julius Toth and Joseph Sándor. Results of the secret ballot: John Demko, 35 votes, George Mészáros, 32 votes. Thus, Mr. Demko will represent District 8-C, going with the promise to work sincerely for the society. The meeting adjourns at 5:00 P.M. George Mészáros John Fulop District Chairman District Recorder DISTRICT 12-B The meeting is held on June 11, 1955 in Duqubsne, Pa. District chairman Stephen R. Szabó cordially greets the 42 members in session, the largest number in 20 years. Mr. Szabó briefly explains the purpose of the meeting then asks for nominations of delegate and alternate delegate to the Verhovay Convention, Andrew Mitrik nominates Stephen Illés and Anthony Szahc^_ nominates. John Toth. Mr. Illés wins by a majority of 26 votes, Mr. Toth becomes alternate by 14 votes. The new delegate to the Convention expresses his thanks and affirms his interest in doing his utmost for the Association. The meeting is adjourned. Stephen R.
