Of the thousands of Verhovayans who will be doing the Memorial Dayweek end traffic, yog may rest assured Verhovay Youngstown will be in the middle of the crowd, flocking" to the 12th Annual you-know-what and you-know-where tournament. Chances are we may not arrive with brass band and flags awaving, but the people of Chicago will know the gang from Youngstown is there. Oh' yes, they will! The Branch 108 entry, who are still red-hot from their recent sweep of the Youngstown City “Y” League championship, will be keyed up for |the bowling honors that are in Chicago. Members of the championship team are: John Ashley, Frank Horvath, Gabe Nameth, Dave Petros, George Skebo and captain Joe Turner. Members of the other two men’s teams are: Steve Simon, Steve Durda, Phil Houser, Steve Houser, John Barkó, Paul Koch, Andy Blasko, Tom Hood, Stan Ruz and Dick Safron. Altogether there are five teams entered from Youngstown, with three men’s and two women’s from Branch 21. The fair sex includes: Anne Frew, Frieda Benish, Mary Wittway, Margaret Bunchy, Irene Gianfrancesco, Vilma Miller, Celia Vengren, Audrey Mislay, and two gals from Beaver Falls, Pa., whose names, unfortunately, we haven’t at the moment. * Now all you good people of Youngstown, who are planning to attend the gala affair, please pay strict attention to what your ole buddy S. M. here states concerning the leaving time and so forth. We all plan to leave on the Erie Railroad Friday the 27th, either at 9:54 A.M. or 4:07 P.M., city time Remember the date and time. If we are going in- groups of three or more, the rates are 820.46 each, round trip. If we have 23 or more, it’s $19.69, round trip. The gang from Beaver Falls will arrive early Friday morning and, if some of you people would like, we ,advise you to take the 9:54 A.M. to meet them. They’ll all be toge!ther, so wander on thru the coaches: until you come upon them, and enjoy the trip together. If there is any added information needed, please call the district offiee downtown, RI 3-7717, and either Gabe Nameth or myself will he happy to answer all your questions. Who knows? We may even talk you into taking out added insurance. Try us. Next . month will be election of delegates month. Therefore all the members are urged to attend their branch meetings to elect their delegates to the National Convention to be held September of this year in Pittsburgh. The newly formed Sports Club has held two meetings, and at the next meeting will elect its officers. All members of Verhovay Youngstown are urged to belong to this Sports Club. Much good can come out of this club, so lets all get behind the project and give it our utmost support. More news of the club will be given in later issues of this fine Verhovay Journal.
