Branch S ANNIVERSARY and AWARD This branch will celebrate its 55th anniversary Sunday, June 7th, at St. Emerich’s Hall, Johnstown. Dinner will be served at 6 o’clock and Joe Baldwin’s orchestra will play for the dance. The Illustrious Citation and Gold Emblem will be presented to Frank Dudash by Director Louis Vizi. CLEVELAND, OHIO Branch 14 BANQUET and AWARDS A dinner, honoring the Verhovay youth of Cleveland and veteran members JACOB TORDA and JOHN BOZSVAY, will be held Sunday May 24th, beginning one o’clock afternoon, at- the Cleveland Verhovay Home. “MEETING” is the title given to the youth occasion by Director Coloman Kolozsvary, who recently stressed the significance of that word when he spoke to members of new Branch 573, Cleveland, Ohio. It is the aim of venerable Director Kolozsvary to have ‘meetings” between the younger and the older generation Verhovay members. Jacob Torda and John Bozsvay, who have held various Verhovay offices during their years of work for the Association,' will receive from National President John Bencze the Illustrious Citation and the Gold Emblem. CHICAGO, ILL. Branch 15 .PICNIC The First Annual Picnic of Branch 15 will be held June 28, 1953 at White House Grove, 9300 West Irving Park Blvd. There will be games, dancing and refreshments. A door prize of a $25.00 permanent wave, donated by Louis and Marge Fodor of the Modern Beauty Shop, will be given the winner. To be eligible for the door prize your name and address must be written on the stub of vour ticket. Music will furnished by Sepessy’s orchestra. There will be ample parking space. Members not going by automobile may take the Irving Park bus to the end of the line, whence we will iprovide transportation to the grove. CONNEAUT, OHIO Branch 220 OBITUARY Joseph Palagyi, charter member of this branch, holder of several branch offices and delegate to the Verhovay Convention, died April 12, 1953. He is survived by his wife, 8 isoits, 2 daughters and 15 grandchildren. He was buried from St. Mary’s Church and laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Branch 443 BRANCH EVENT The bowling program held April; 18 by this branch was very successful. Entertainers were Marie Ivies and Jimi Kovács. (Note: Obituary of Stephen Far' kas elsewhere.) 60th Anniversary Observed by Elyria Couple Mr. and Mrs. John Tisza, Elyria, Ohio, members of Branch 107 o? the same city, celebraced on April 12 their 60th wedding anniversary. The couple was married April 12, 1893 in Nyírbátor, Szabolcs county. The Rev. Joseuh Szikszay officiated at the Reformed rites. Mr. Tisza arrived in America in 1903. He was then 34 years old (now 84). Mrs. Tisza followed in 1011. In this country Mr. Tisza at first worked at the Pennsylvania mines, later moved to Elyria where until his retirement spent 38 years in the service of the Steel & Tube Company. The old gentleman is a chapter member of the Elyria Magyar Reformed CJmrch, and greeting's were sent to Mr. and Mrs. Tisza therefrom. The Tisza’s, had five children, three of whom are living. John is living in Trenton, New Jersey, Julius in Lorain, Ohio, and Helen, Mrs. Alexander Baksa, in Elyria, Ohio. There are 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Sixty years of married life is not often attained, and those who live to see its observance deserve the well wishing of all their relatives and friends — in this case Mr. and Mr:;.
