Seeing the majestic University of Toledo with its broad campus will be a “must” for our members when they tour the great Ohio city during our National Fellowship Days this coming May 30-31. VERHOVAY YOUTH IN UNIFORM Frank A. Bacsó These two fine brothers, A/B Frank A. Bacsó, left, and Sgt. Stephen Bacsó, right, are sons of Mr. and Mrs. John Bacsó of Detroit. The young warriors are of course members of Branch 36, Detroit, since their uncle, brother of Mrs. BacSo, is Detroit District Manager Stephen Lukacs who manages Branch 36. After basic training at Keesler Field, Biloxi, Mississippi, Frank is now stationed at George Air Force Base, California. Stephen enlisted in the Marines in August, 1951, and received boot training at Parris Island, South Carolina, and he is now at Cherry Point, North Carolina. > Stephen Bacsó The members of Branch ‘59, Scalp Level, Pa. and the members of Branches 33 and 409, Windber, Pa. (attended a joint meeting Sunday, December 14, 1952, at the V.F.W. Home, Scalp Level. The meeting was well represented with 112 mem­bers present from the merging bran­ches. Louis Vizi, Verhovay Director, was overwhelirtingjly reelected (president, over his opponent George Modock who received 19 votes. Frank Laslo won a similar victory over his rival Carl Dutzman. The comptrollership was unani­mously given to Joseph Miller, Sr. Management of Branch 59, which on January 1st absorbed Branches 33 and 409, is in the hands of Joseph Miller, Jr., whose address is 508 Main St., Scalp Level, Pa., and telephone Windber 285-J. After the election Branch Mana­ger Miller urged all the members to take a renewed interest in branch activities and to assist their branch in securing new members for the SZALANCZY-SZABO NEW MEM­BERSHIP CAMPAIGN. Following the conclusion of the business the well satisfied members were served refreshments. The meetings are held the first Sunday following- the second pay­day of each month at the V.F.W. Home, 520 Rear Main St., Scalp Level. In case of delay in payments, dues may be paid at the branch manager’s home no later than the 25th of the month to avoid g-et.ting in arrears.
