VOL. XXXV. JULY 16, 1952 ~sKSs» 51 - NO. 7 BENCZE-REVESZ ANNIVERSARY NEW MEMBERSHIP CAMPAIGN RESULTS The membership drive that was staged in honor of National President John Bencze and National Secretary Coloman Revesz for their more than 20 years service with the Verhovay Fraternal Insurance Association ended May 31,, 1952. For our Association this campaign swelled the membership by an additional 1,382 new members and increased by $1,458,000 our insurance in force. Actually there were many applications forwarded to the Home Office before the close of the membership drive which are not figured in the above results, because the membership certificates issued carry a June 1st dating. Therefore it is desirable to know that in reality we wrote over 1,400 new members with insurance in force of over $1,500,000. The two honored officers feel very proud of these significant results. They are grateful to everyone who in any way contributed to the success of the Bencze- Revesz Anniversary New Membership Campaign. They expressed their thanks to the branch managers at the victory dinner of the National Verhovay Fellowship Days celebration in Columbus, Ohio. The beautiful wrist watches which were awarded to them will lastingly remind National President Bencze and National Secretary Revesz that the membership campaign held in their honor was a real success largely so because of the general affection and high esteem in which the two veteran officers are held by our workers in the field. The production result by fields were as follows: Field I — Frank J. Cher — $156,000 Field If — F.lmer Charles — $329,000 Field III — Gabriel Nameth — $219,000 Field IV — (Open) — $132,500 Field V — Frank J. Wukovits — $171,500 Field VI — Joseph Toma — $ 93,500 Field VII — Leslie J. Dus —$334,000 California District — $ 21,500 Of our 314 branches 172 contributed to the production results. Some branches gained more than others. Of course branch size, location, etc. are important factors that must be acknowledged in making judgment. What is important is, whether large or small, the producing branches DID get new members. But it is REGRETTABLE that 138 branches, or 44%, did not contribute to the campaign. Certainly if each of these 138 branches would have secured at least one new member each in their Senior and Juvenile orders, then the results would have been even more gratifying both to the Association and to the feted officers. To the 172 branches who responded to the Bencze-Revesz Anniversary New Membership Campaign we are very grateful and our sincere best wishes are extended to their cooperative branch managers, to the other branch officers and to the members who aided the drive. It is the responsibility of the branches to work along with the Association in any endeavor designed for the good of Verhovay, and so long as the majority is willing to shoulder proper responsibility we will keep progressing. As a final message to the branches which failed to participate in the campaign, it is NOT too late. Get those new members NOW! H JOHN BENCZE ^ National President 29 29 29 29 29 29 39 39 39 39 '2929 29 29 m BRANCH MANAGERS ATTEND EDUCATIONAL MEETINGS V erhovay Extends Training Program to All Field Men The fine progress made by our trained and experienced full time field men was the deciding factor in the program that was recently adopted by the Board of Directors to extend the training program to all the branch managers. Realizing (that the members of our association deserve first class service by experienced field men, the officers of our organization now have the opportunity to go into the field to train men and to keep them on their toes with refresher insurance courses. Since the adoption of this program four educational meetings already have been held and more are scheduled to take place in the near future. Johnstown, Pa., Orescent, Ohio, New York, N. Y., and Pittsburgh, Pa. have been the scenes of ifche confabs already held. This training and educational program should be of particular interest to our members because they are the ones who will chiefly benefit by this action. Our members deserve the best service we as fraternal insurance people can give them. This kind of service must at least equal the excellent fraternal benefits we offer, and only highly trained :and experienced insurance representatives can do the job. The meetings held thus far prove conclusively that there is a very big need, urgent indeed, for this type of program in our association. The branch managers who have attended these meetings have expressed their utmost satisfaction and havei requested additional such meetings. It is safe to say that their desires will not go unheeded, and in the interests of our members we will continue this program. A resume of the four meetings follows: JOHNSTOWN MEETING In the last issue of the Verhovay' Journal we mentioned the fact that this educational meeting was held on May 4, 1952 under the direction of National President John Bencze, National Secretary Coloman Révész and Field Supervisor Elmer Charles. It is newsworthy to note that the branch managers who attended freely expressed the opinion that it was well worth sacrificing their Sundays to attend such beneficial meetings. Director Louis Vizi, who was also present at this meeting, expressed full satisfaction with the way it was conducted and the graciousness of interest shown by the branch managers. CRESCENT MEETING The second educational meeting was held June- 15 at the Verhovay Home, Crescent, Ohio. National President John Bencze presided at the meeting which was held under the direction of Field Supervisor Gabriel Nameth, Youngstown, Ohio. Attending also was Field Supervisor Elmer Charles. The many new benefits offered by our association were thoroughly discussed. A question and answer session followed. The branches represented at this meeting were Branch 5, Maynard, Ohio; Branch 10, Barton, Ohio; Branch 40, Martins Ferry, Ohio; Branch 46, Wheeling, W. Va., Branch 53, Rhodesda'.e, Ohio; Branch 73, Adena, Ohio; Branch 153 Lansing, Ohio; Branch 237, Steubenville,. Ohio; Branch 288 and • Branch 432, Crescent, Ohio. The association is very grateful to Louis Katona, president of Branch 288, who greeted'the Verhovay field workers at the Verhovay home. A special vote of thanks is given to Mrs. Kozma for the delicious dinner she prepared. NEW YORK MEETING The third educational meeting was held June 22 at the Balaton Inn Meeting Room under the direction of Field Supervisors Frank j J. Cher and Joseph Toma, both of ) whom are accredited Fraternal Insurance Counselors. National Presi- I dent John Bencze and National Secretary Coloman Revesz represented •the Home Office.
