DISTRICT 24 Br. 36.) Detroit, Mich. Minutes taken at the meeting of Branch 36 of the Verhovay Fraternal Insurance Associatio«, constituting District 24, held on June 24, 1951, in the auditorium of the former Verhovay Home at 8005 W. Jefferson Avenue, Detroit, Mich. 1. ) John Bartus, Jr., District President, welcomes the members attending the meeting, outlines the importance of the present session which has been called for the election of delegates io the National Convention, calls the meeting to order and requests the district secretary to lead the minutes of the last district session. The minutes are read, approved and witnessed by fellcw-members Andrew Toth and Louis Varga. 2. ) District Secretary Stephen Lukacs reads the supplementary amendments recommended by the Board of Directors, which the meeting adopts for detailed discussion. 3. ) District President John Bartus, Jr., announces that the District is entitled to elect four delegates and he calls for nominations. Nominated are: Joseph Heck, Joseph Gross, Joseph Marczis, Leslie Denes, John Bartus, Jr., and Andrew Toth. Chairman appoints Frank Perlaki, Louis Vasas and Gasper Papp to act as judges >n the election. The judges find that 48 fellow-members are present. Ballots are cast and the results are as follows: 1.) The results are as follows: 1.) John Bartus, Jr., 31 votes, 2.) Mrs. Helen (Lukacs) M. Toth, 29 votes, 3.) Louis Vasas, 18 votes, 4.) Andrew Toth, 15 votes, 5.) Mrs. John Bartus, 13 votes. 5. ) District Secretary Stephen Lukacs reads for the second time the supplementary amendments and proposals recommended by the Board of Directors, which, with the exception of the first paragraph, are unanimously adopted, with the modification that ownership of the One Thousand Dollar Life Insurance Certificate shall be required for eligibility to district sessions and national conventions. 6. ) Our district meeting dealt also with organizing matters. The meeting of our district approves the action of the Board of Directors establishing .a Field Manager’s Department and recommends to the Convention that the Field Manager’s positio« be retained and maintained for the future, too. The reason for this action is that present conditions demand that field management be EXPERTLY conducted because only in this way will we be able to meet competition by other large insurance organizations. We also recommend the introduction of an insurance plan that will match the plans offered by any other insurance organization. 7. ) Our district meeting dealt also with the proposal that the Convention last no longer than one week. Our district meeting recommends to .he Convention to deal with no other matters than those which are of immediate concern to the Association. Let I us exclude all sorts of politics from Br. This is necessary to give our. organizers sufficient time to jointly discuss all problems pertaining to organizing and to jointly formulate ai program to be presented to the National Convention. 9. ) District Secretary announces that the expenses of the district session amount to $59.13. The report is acknowledged. There being no further business, District President thanks the members for their kind cooperation and adjourns the meeting. JOHN BARTUS, JR., District President, STEPHEN LUKACS, District Secretary. DISTRICT 25 Detroit, Mich. Minutes taken at the meeting of District 25, held on July 1st, 1951, in Detroit, Mich. John Mokri (Br. 194), was elected District President; and John Gyiraszin (Br. 500) District Secretary. President John Mokri welcomes the delegates, calls the meeting to order and requests the represntatives to present their credentials. Present were: Andrew Veres from Br. 123, John Mokri from Br. 194, John Gyiraszin and Joseph Boldiszar from Br. 500, and George Lajtos from Br. 511. Thus, five delegates are present. President calls for the reading of the minutes of the last district session. Then the delegates proceeded to discuss the proposed amandments to the By-Laws. It was resolved to leave paragraphs 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 31 unchanged. George Lajtos moves that those who are not members of the sick benefit! department, also shall be eligible to become delegates to the National Convention. The motion was carried. The meeting does not approve of the provision that a member residing 25 miles from his branch, shall be eligible to become a delegate only if he is elected by the branch meeting. District 25 recommends that either every member, or no one shall receive dividends. The meeting recommends that members who have paid their dues for 25 years and attain the age of 65, shall receive a paid-up Certificate. The meeting recomends that if a branch secures 25 new members, it shall be issued a $150 sports; allotment. The meeting recommends that members in arrears shall be notified hereafter by the Home Office rather than the manager. John Gyiraszin and Joseph Bcldiszar were elected delegates to the National Convention and John Mokrf and Andrew Veres alternates. After the expenses of the meeting were determind, chairman adjourns the meeting. JOHN GYIRASZIN, District Secretary. DISTRICT 26-B Br. 132.) South Bend, Ind. The meeting of Branch 132, constituting Djgtrict 26-B, was held c« June 10, 1951, in South Bend, Ind. District President called the meeting to order and announced that District 26-B delegates four representatives to this year’s National Convention. Accordingly 4 delegates and alternates are to be elected. The following werq elected: 1.) Frank Bálint, 1625 S. Kendal St., 2.) Laslo Locsi, 826 W. Fisher St., 3.) Julius Hesler, 2522 Lincoln Way West, and 4.) John Horvath, 733 E. Victoria St., South Bend, Ind. John Pécsi and Alexander Horvath are alternates. In accordance with the action of the meeting held Journal-------------------------------------------------------------PAGE 13 on February 11, 1951, when the proposed amendments to the By-Laws were discussed, the elected delegates are given full power to represent the district. District President, then, thanks the members for their vigorous attention on behalf of the Association and adjourns the meeting. JOSEPH LACAY, District President, FRANK WUKOVITS, District Secretary. DISTRICT 26-C Br. 130.) East Chicago, Ind. Minutes taken at the meeting of Branch 130, constituting District 26-C, held on June 17, 1951. Joseph Churilla, District President, welcomes the members present and calls the meeting to order. He calls upon the district secretary to read the papers pertaining to the National Conventio«. Then the members of the district request that in the future dividends be paid to the old as well as the young members. The meeting wishes that the Convention last only one week. They recommend that every female member of the Association, regardless of whether or not she is a member of the sick benefit department, be eligible to receive $15 childbirth benefits on the condition that the newborn child will be signed up in the Verhovay. Reason: it has happened in innumerable instances that the childbirth benefit has been paid but the newborn child was insured with ano>ther insurance organization. Chairman then calls for the election of at delegate to the National Convention. On motion of Mrs. Frank Cimbalmos, seconded by Gabriel Szilvasy, Nick Palla was elected delegate to the National Convention. JOSEPH CHURILLA, District President, NICK PALLA, District Secretary. DISTRICT 27 Br. 37.) Chicago, 111. Minutes taken at the meeting of Branch 37, constituting District 27, held on June 29, 1951, in Chicago, 111. District President Stephen Székely calls the meeting to order at 8 o’clock and cordially welcomes the members present. The four resolutions adopted by the Board of Directors at their April 2, 1951, meeting are discussed. Afted several remarks, upon duly seconded motion, the recommendations are unanimously approved. Joseph Rohaly and Stephen Szekely are nominated for delegate to the National Convention. Upon duly seconded motion the election is held by secret ballot. Joseph Rohaly is elected delegate and Stephen Szekely alternate. . District President thanks the members for attending the meeting and adjourns the meeting. STEPHEN SZEKELY, District President, JOSEPH ROHALY, District Secretary. DISTRICT 27-B -Br. 164.) Chicago, 111. Minutes taken at the meeting of Branch 164, constituting District 27-B, held on June 13, 1951, at 333 W. North Avenue, in the Rainbow Hall, Chicago, 111. President Joseph B. Iroczky welcomes the members present and calls the meeting to order. He requests Secretary Louis Barna to keep minutes of the proceedings,. The first matter of business is ehet election of a delegate and an alternate to the National Convention. Nominated are Louis Barna and Andrew Wiener. The nominations were accepted. By secret ballot Louis Barna received the majority. Louis Fedor, Jr., was nominated for alternate delegate. He accepted the nomination and was unanimously elected.
