Journal December 31, 1947 PAGE 6 DISTRICT 4 PHILLIPSBURG, N. J. MINUTES of the meeting of Dis­trict 4, held on Sunday, Nov. 23rd, at the Rákóczi Hall in Phillipsburg, N. J. Mr. Martin Veres opens the meet­ing at 9 A.M., and explains to the delegates that the purpose of this meeting is to pass action as to the approval or rejection of the amend­ments to the By-laws adopted by the 21st National Convention. The Chair­man, then, requests the secretary to read the minutes of the previous session. The minutes are read by the secretary and approved by the delegates. The president requests that the delegates present their credentials which are found in order. The chairman calls upon one of the delegates to read the amended by-laws to the meeting. The amend­ments are read and, after a little discussion, wholeheartedly approved by the representatives of District IV. Branches 9, 133, 234, 420, 422 and M.33 were represented at the meet­ing. Branch 168 of Palmerton, Pa., was not represented. There being no further business, chairman thanks the delegates for their kind attention and adjourns the meeting at 3:15 P.M. STEPHEN VAYDA, recording secretary. DISTRICT 18 CLEVELAND, 0. MINUTES of the meeting of Dis­trict 18, represented by Branch 14 of Cleveland, O., held on Nov. 23rd, 1947. Branch-president and district chair­man Joseph Szalay welcome the membership, calls the meeting to order and appeals to the assembly for a calm and deliberate discussion of the amendments to the By-laws. 1. ) Chairman Szalay requests that the Minutes of the meeting held on June 8th, 1947, be read. The minutes are read and, upon duly seconded motion by Joseph Barry, approved, and signed by the chairman, William Urban and Frank Bodnar. 2. ) Secretary reads a letter from the National Secretary. It is moved and seconded that the letter be duly acknowledged. The motion is carried. 3. ) Joseph Barry moves that the reports of the delegates to the Na­tional Convention be heard before the discussion of the amendments to the By-laws. The motion is seconded and unanimously carried. 4. ) Fellow-members Kolozsvary, Bozsvay, J. J. Horvath and Jacob Torda, delegates to the National Con­vention, present their reports which are duly acknowledged by the mem­bership. 5. ) The amendments to the By­laws adopted by the National Con­vention are read and seriatim ex­plained. Several provisions are ob­jected to by several members who particularly emphasize the detrimental provisions pertaining to the branch­­managers, the sick-benefits and the membership as well as the Associa­tion. 6. ) The circular letter of Branch 64, Canton, 0., is read. The member­ship refuses to hear the reply of the Home Office to this.letter. 7. ) Frank Pintér takes the floor and speaks with approval of several parts of the letter of Branch 64. Turning to the amendments to the By-laws, he grants that some of the provisions may be advantagous, how­ever, many of them are wrong and consideration must be given to the ruling that the action of the meet­ing miist be taken in reference to the amendments as a whole. It is moved that the amendments be re­jected. The motion is seconded by Joseph Barry, Julius Cincar and others. The motion is put to a vote by the chairman. 7 vote in favor of and II opposed to the motion. Thus District 18 rejects the actions taken by the XXI. National Convention of the Verhovay F. I. Association. JO­SEPH SZALAY, chairman, JOHN BALUNEK, recording secretary. DISTRICT 16 CRESCENT, O. MINUTES, taken at the meeting of District 16, held on November 23rd, 1947, in the Crescent, O., Ver­hovay Home. Chairman Louis Katona opens the meeting at 10 A.M., and extends a cordial welcome to the district repre­sentatives. He requests the district recorder to examine the credentials of the delegates. It is found that 18 representatives are present. Chairman calls for the reading of the minutes of the previous session. The minutes are read and approved. Chairman calls upon the delegates to the National Convention to pre­sent their reports on the proceedings of the convention. -Joseph Barath, Louis Katona, John Petrash, Joseph Huttkay give detailed reports on the amendments to the By-laws adopted by the National Convention. Various questions are put to and answered by the convention delegates. After the delegates to thé National Con­vention have fully explained the actions taken by the Convention, the meeting accords them a vote of thanks in recognition of their ex­cellent services. The amendments to the By-laws adopted by the National Convention, then are unanimously approved by the meeting. Dennis Palfalvy moves that the meetings be held in the future in a different locality. Peter Soltész moves that the meetings be held, as here­tofore, in the Crescent, 0., Verhovay Home. The motions are put to a vote by the chairman. It is decided by a majority vote of 13 over 5 that future meetings be held at the Crescent Verhovay Home. Chairman requests that the dele­gates present their expense state­ments and it is found that the ex­penses of the meeting total $391.70. There being no further business, chairman thanks the district repre­sentatives for their exemplary atti­tude and adjourns the meeting. LOUIS KATONA, district chairman, STEPHEN PETŐ, district recorder. DISTRICT 7 PAINESVILLE, O. MINUTES, taken at the meeting of District 7, held on Nov. 23rd, 1947, in Painesville, 0. Chairman John Kuscsik welcomes the delegates and calls the meeting to order. Upon his request the representatives present their credentials and it is found that the following attend the meeting: John Bertics of Branch 67, Charles Geletai of Branch M.10, Jo­seph Palagyi and John Czompoly of Branch 220, John Kuscsik of Branch 284, Frank Szóka of Branch 191 and Frank Bodnar of Branch 81. Chairman calls for the reading of the minutes of the previous session. The minutes are read, approved and attested by John Bertics and Joseph Palagyi. Frank Szoka, delegate to the National Convention is requested to present his report on the pro­ceedings of the National Conven­tion. Frank Szoka describes, as well as he can remember, the proceedings .of the Convention. The amendments to the By-laws, then, are read by the district recorder. Several of the provisions evoke a stormy discus­sion and are objected to by the dele­gates. However, in view of the rul­ing that the amendments to the By­laws are to be acted upon in their entirety, District 7 agrees to approve the amendments as a whole. It is decided that the next meeting of the district be held in Grand River, 0. Thanking the delegates for their exemplary attitude during the deli­berations, chairman adjourns the meeting. FRANK BODNAR, record­ing secretary. DISTRICT 27/C CHICAGO, ILL. MINUTES, taken at the meeting of District 27/C, representing Branch 96, held on November 19th, 1947, at 8 P.M. 25 members are present. President Frank Tinich welcomes the members and calls the meeting to order. He explains the purpose of the meeting and announces that no other business will be discussed than the amendments to the By-laws adopted by the National Conven­tion. The amendments are seriatim discussed. Some objection is raised to the sick benefit provisions, but the explanations of the two delegates to the National Convention satisfy the membership who, thereupon, unani­mously approve the amendments to the By-laws in their entirety. There being no further business, chairman thanks the members for their presence and adjourns the meeting at 10 P.M. FRANK TI­NICH, district chairman, GEORGE SHAMEL, district recorder. DISTRICT 32 PITTSBURGH, PA. MINUTES of the meeting of Dis­tinct 32, held on Sunday, November 30th, 1947, at the Verhovay Build­ing in Pittsburgh, Pa. The session was called to order by Chairman Kohut at 9:30 A.M. Roll call disclosed the following delegates .present: William C. Kohut, chairman, and Mrs. Robertson of Branch 430, Alex J. Goydan and Miss Helen Stip­­kovits of Branch 395, Mr. George Foley of Branch 495, William Par­­shall, Branch 414, Stephen Gyon­­gyosy, Branch 376, Andrew Bagos, Joseph Majercsik, Julius Kovács, Louis Kiss, Mrs. Emma Lawrence and John Fulop Jr., secretary. After discussing separately each amendment adopted at the Conven­tion, the whole of the amendments was voted upon. Results were un­animous in favor of ratification. Having therefore voted to ratify the amendments to the By-laws, and there being no other business under the jurisdiction of the District Ses­sions, Chairman Kohut declared Dis­trict 32 Session adjourned. JOHN FULOP JR., Secretary. DISTRICT 10 LEECHBURG, PA. MINUTES, taken at the Meeting of District 10, held on Nov. 16th, 1947, in Leechburg, Pa. Julius Grajczar, President and de­legate of Branch 172, opens the meeting and extends a cordial wel­come to the delegates. He announces the vacancy of the chair due to the death of district president Charles Lukacs. It is moved and seconded that a district chairman be elected at this time. The motion is unani­mously carried and the following are nominated: Joseph Kantor, John Kovács and John Szenyö. The bal­lots are counted and it is found that Joseph Kantor, having received 5 votes as against 3 for each of the other two nominees, has been elected District Chairman. Thanking the members for their confidence, the district president as­sumes the chair and orders the call­ing of the roll. The following are present: Frank Gajdos from Branch 247, Joseph Kantor and Julius Graj­czar from Branch 172, John Szenyö from Branch 218, Stephen Csernay from Branch 196, Emery Prokay from Branch 143, Samuel Naypayer, John Kovács, Alexander Chobody from Branch 88, Paul Obsuszt from Branch M.84 and John Galo from Branch M.142. Branfch 247 having delegated only one representative and Branch M.86 not being repre­sented, 11 delegates are present. The discussion of the amendments to the By-laws adopted by the Na­tional Convention is next on the schedule of business. Chairman re­quests the delegates to give full at­tention to the reading of the amend­ments and to feel free to interrupt the reading with questions, as the chair and the secretary are prepared to render all necessary information. The provisions of the amended By-laws are discussed at length. Chairman, then, puts the matter to a vote and District 10 unanimously approves the amendments to the By-laws adopted by the XXL Na­tional Convention. Upon invitation issued by Branch 88, Yatesboro, Pa., it is decided that the next district session be held in the Verhovay Home of Branch 88, Yatesboro, Pa. Thanking the delegates for their attention, chairman adjourns the meeting at 5:30 P.M. ALEX CHO­BODY, district recorder. DISTRICT 11 SCALP LEVEL, PA. MINUTES, taken at the meeting of Distiict 11, held on Nov. 30th, 1947, in Scalp Level, Pa. 1. ) District chairman Joseph Ta­mas calls the meeting to order, wel­comes the delegates and requests them to present their credentials. Upon receiving the credentials, the district recorder reads the names of those present, as follows: George Modok, Joseph Tamas, Paul Györfy of Branch 33, Joseph Muller Sr., Jo­seph Muller Jr., Martin Leber of Branch 59, Stephen Olexa of Branch 134, Blasius Lukacs of Branch 286, Stephen Bosnyak of Branch 302, Andrew Varga of Branch 415, Carl Dutzman of Branch M.1Ö9. Stephen Myers of Branch M.164. Branch 517 is not represented. 12 delegates are present. 2. ) District recorder invites the delegates to attend a party to be given in the afternoon in honor of director Louis Vizi, President of Branch 59. 3. ) District recorder reads the mi­nutes of the meeting held on June 29th; 1947, which is unanimously approved by the meeting and at­tested by George Modok and Stephen Bosnyak. 4. ) Martin Leber, delegate to the National Convention, renders a de­tailed report on the convention pro­ceedings. 5. ) Joseph Muller Jr., gives a brief report on the proceedings of the Convention. 6. ) George Modok expresses his agreement with the previous two speakers. 7. ) The circular letter of Branch 64, Canton, O., is read. 8. ) The reply of the Home Office to above letter is read and acknow­ledged. 9. ) The amendments to the By­laws adopted by the National Con­vention are read, and properly ex­plained. After the first page is read, several delegates state that they have read the text of the amend­ments in the official Journal. Carl Dutzman moves that the amend­ments be ratified in their entirety.
