November 26, 1947 NEWS From The Field MAYNARD, O. Branch 5 1*1, A NS GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY All members of Branch 5, Maynard, <)., are requested to attend our next j regular meeting, to be held on Sun- ; day, December 14th, beginning at 2 P.M., in the Csajka store room, j The officers of the branch for the year 1948 will be elected at this time i* _ 'j and, then, preparations for the golden anniversary of our branch will be discussed. May I at this time request all members having loans on their membership certificates to pay at least the interests due at the coming meeting. Also, I would like to impress upon my fellow-members the importance of repaying their loans, because, thereby, they will restore the full reserves of their certificates and, thus, become eligible for subsequent loans if needed. Many of our fellow-members are in the position to repay their loans and it would be to their advantage as well as that of their beneficiaries, if they would do so at this time. JULIUS SHAD1, Manager. JOHNSTOWN, PA. Branch 8 SETTLEMENT OF ARREARS In view of the approaching end of the year, members of Branch 8 are requested to settle all arrears in j order that our books may be closed. Past experience has shown that many misunderstandings are caused by the negligent handling of arrears on the part of the members. Paying their dues regularly each month, some j members may forget that they have i missed a month some time in the j past. Not being constantly reminded by the manager who still has to keep track of the arrears, the members, then, come to resent a belated reminder because all they remember is that they have regularly paid their dues each and every month. In such instances it takes a great deal of argument to convince them that j perhaps two or three years ago they have missed a month. It will be to the advantage of every member if he will verify his standing with the branch-manager and settle his arrears, if any, in order that he mayenter the new year with a clean slate. If any of the members are unable to pay their dues at the regular monthly meeting, they are requested to pay at any time at the Manager’s home: 476, Edith Avenue. Johnstown, Pa. FRANK DUDÁS, Manager. JOHN FEEDLER, Manager. ROSSFORD, O. Branch 194 AN APPEAL Various interpretations of the actions of the XXI. National Convention seem to be in circulation among the members of Branch 194, and, as a result, there is some confusion as to how these actions will affect the fhtmbership. All misunderstandings will be cleared at the annual meeting, to be held on Sunday, December 14th, at the home of branch-president Coleman Juhos, where a full report on the proceedings of the Convention wiH be rendered and all questions of the members will be answered. I am certain that a free discussion of all the issues involved will give full satisfaction to the entire membership. It is most important, therefore, that all members of Branch 191 make a special effort to attend this meeting. There are many other important maters that require the presence of the membership, because often the officers have no power to take appropriate action without exceeding their authority. One of our aged fellow-members, for instance, repeatedly appealed to our branch for some kind of assistance, since be is unable 1o keep his membership certificate in force. If the members of the Branch would attend our meetings at least once every three months, such requests could be acted upon. Our branch today embraces 126 adult and 32 juvenile members. Many branches with much smaller memberships are pursuing creditable fraternal activities while we are held in inactivity by the complete lack of interest on the part of our membership. It is for these reasons that I earnestly appeal to the members of Branch 194 to attend our annual meeting on Sunday, December 14th. JOHN MOKRI, Manager. MCKEESPORT, PA. Branch 226 ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of Branch 226 will be held on Sunday, December 14th, when the officers of the branch for the coming year will be elected. Every member of the branch is urged to attend. The fellow-members are requested to settle their accounts before the end of the month in order that our books may be cleared of all arrears and unpaid interests. ALEXANDER NEMETH, Mgr. ASHTABULA, O. Branch 284 ELECTIONS The officers of Branch 284 will be elected at our annual meeting to be held on Sunday, December 21st, in the Marine Bank Building, upstairs, on West 5th Street, where our regular meetings are held on the third Sunday of each month. Every member of the Branch is requested to attend. LOUIS STOFKO. Manager. SPRINGDALE. PA. Branch 296 ELECTION NOTICE The officers of the branch and the manager of the Verhovay Home will be elected at our annual meeting to be held on December 12th, beginning at 7 P.M.
