Page 2 Verhovay Journal June 26, 1946 Verhovay’s Sixtieth Anniversary Gold Ring Membership Contest (Continued from Page 1) 60th Anniversary Gold Ring Contest credited with at least $6,000 insurance, will receive the 60th Anniversary Gold Ring, regardless of the volume of business produced, contestants shall COMPETE for the following additional cash prizes: $400 to be awarded to the winner of the Contest. Two prizes of $300 each: 2nd and 3rd award. Three prizes of $200 each: 4th, 5th and 6th award. Twelve prizes of $100 each: 7th to 18th award. Twelve prizes of $75 each: 19th to 30th award. Fifteen prizes of $50 each: 31st to 45th award. 45 substantial cash prizes, totalling $4,450, have been provided in addition to the 60th Anniversary Gold Ring Award. It is understood, of course, that the 60th Anniversary Gold Ring shall be awarded to all winners of the contest, including the winners of the additional cash prizes! * Surely, such an imposing array of prizes and awards must evoke enthusiastic response on part of the Verhovay membership to the challenge of the second 60th anniversary membership contest. CONSOLATION AWARDS There is a consolation prize for those, too, who—for same reason or other—may not be able to wnte $6,000 worth of new business during the seven month period of this drive. Each and every contestant credited with the writing of less than $6,000 but at least $3,000 insurance, shall he awarded THE VERHOVAY 60TH ANNIVERSARY SILVER RING—a worthy counter-part of the 60th Anniversary Gold Ring award. AN AWARD FOR EVERY CONTESTANT! The 60th Anniversary Gold Ringf Contest starts under much more favorable conditions than the recently concluded first anniversary campaign. Strikes have been settled and working conditions are improving day by day. There is no reason on earth why the second anniversary membership contest should not prove even more successful than the first one. We are certain that the members of the Verhovay appreciate the generous provisions and liberal conditions set for this contest and that they will reciprocate by wholehearted participation in the second anniversary campaign. The efforts of no one will remain unrewarded. There is a valuable prize waiting for every contestant! Branchmanagers, branch-officers, local organizers and fellowmembers in the field: don’t miss this chance to win and, thereby, to help making the Verhovay an even greater and stronger association. WANTED: 500 CONTESTANTS! In view of the value and the great, in fact, unlimited, number of prizes and awards, wTe feel justified in hoping that AT LEAST 500 MEMBERS of the Verhovay will participate in this contest. We would like to appeal to our fellow-members, however, not to postpone their entry. The first anniversary contest ended successfully only because during the last four months of the drive the participants made up for the procrastination that marked the first three months. The great number, the value and amount of the prizes set for this contest makes it imperative that unusually high results be attained. Otherwise the great expense involved in the running of this contest cannot be justified! And this drive must have a STRONG BEGINNING if it is to end with a success even greater than that of the first campaign. It is a MUST, therefore, that AT LEAST 500 FELLO WMEMBERS participate in the 60th Anniversary Gold Ring Contest ... It is a MUST that these 500 or more fellow-members enter the contest IMMEDIATELY ... It is a MUST that by a seven month long SUSTAINED EFFORT they assure the success of this drive! The Home Office is happy to pledge its wholehearted cooperation to our contestants. REGISTER . . . NOW! H ENLIST NEW MEMBERS — NOW . . . AND DON’T STOP BEFORE DECEMBER 31st, 1946. CHICAGO “My dear Verhovay fellowmembers: I am writing this letter to all of you, from the Supreme President down to the youngest member of the Association. My heart is overflowing with joy and my soul speaks a prayer of thanksgiving for the blessings of the Almighty who had permitted us at last to cross the threshold of the Home of all Verhov ay ans. I can’t attend this most important celebration, but I am present in spirit and see before me the happy faces of hundreds as the Supreme President solemnly announces ‘Brothers, we are at home .. . ’ The blessing of God was and is with us and we pray that it shall remain with us. Let us follow in ever increasing numbers, with brotherly love and unity, the proud flag of the Verhovay. WILLIAM FEIFAR, Member of Branch 164.” NEWARK, N. J. “Dear Supreme President: as the manager of Branch 70, I wish to extend my heartiest greetings to you and the officers of the great Verhovay on the occasion of the 60th anniversary. I deeply regret that I could not attend the celebrations, for I wanted to shake your hand in person, but I am taking this op portunity to wish you the best of health and good luck, so that you may preside over many more anniversary celebrations in the future. I assure you, my dear fellow-members, that 1 am deeply gratful for the privilege of serving Branch 70 ever since our Supreme President left us to assume his important task. JOHN FAZEKAS, Mgr.” A HERO’S WIDOW . . . From Miami, Fla., we received the following deeply moving letter from Mrs. Valentine Hűlik, widow of the late Valentine Hűlik, former member of Branch 83, New York, N. Y„ 106th fatal casualty of the Verhovay, who was killed in action on December 4, 1944, in France. She wrote: “Dear Mr. Revesz: It gives me great pleasure to send my congratulations and best wishes to the Verhovay F. I. Association on the double occasion of its 60th anniversary and the dedication of its new home. This is, probably, because all of our family have been hundred per cent Verhovay members down to the fourth generation and we are proud to be the members of a society of Hungarian origin. .... ■ It seems like only yesterday when a new branch was organized in Avella, Pa., and our house was busy for days getting ready for the big occasion. -I was just a little girl then for it was many years ago in July, but I felt so important . . . Not so long ago we had a golden Jubilee in New York and now we have the 60th anniversary of the Association. - This shows how the Verhovay progresses and that huge, noble tree branches out far and wide with its many blossoms of the younger generation who will carry on for the ones who had gone to their eternal rest. I hope that a new branch will soon sprout out here in Miami, Fla. I wish I could attend the dedication and have a sincere handshake with our many old friends for old times’ sakes, who will be there. I still feel that part of me will be there in the new home . . . It is hard to forget, but I would be so proud to point out my beloved husband’s portrait displayed in the new home with those of his fellow-members and comrades who paid the Supreme Sacrifice so that we, here at home, may celebrate this great occasion under the freedom of the American and the Verhovay flag. I know that all members who see those Verhovay men, will not think those portraits were given in vain if they picture them under the white crosses in foreign land . . . My sincere good wishes to the officers and members who had given their efforts and time to make this anniversary a great success. God’s blesing on all returned War Veterans. Sincerely, MRS. VALENTINE HŰLIK.” Thank you, Mrs. Hűlik for your beautiful and moving anniversary message which we wanted to share with all of our readers. Thank you all, who had. written a1fd wired to the Home Office on the occasion of the 60th anniversary and the dedication of the Verhovay Building. Your messages are important, for they reflect the spirit which has made the Verhovay a great fraternal society. As long as this spirit remains with us, nothing can stop the advancement of the Verhovay.
