FEBRUARY 27, 1937 PAGE 7 BRANCH No. 356 DETROIT, MICH. MINUTES The last meeting of this Association in the year of 1936 was held in the Verhóvay Club on December 4th. Following the collection of dues the meeting was called to order by Vice - President, Julius Sobonya in the absence of our president, Frank Eory. The Secretary.- Treasurer submitted following reports: 1. Moonlight Picnic sponsored on August 15th. Anet loss of $7.02 was disclosed. 2. The dance sponsored on October 9th. A net profit of $4.90 was disclosed. 3. The Beano Party of November 20th. A net profit of $9.28 was disclosed. 4. Financial report which disclosed a cash balance of $300.06 in the bank as of November 30, 1936. The election of «officers to serve in the year 1937 was taken up. — Elections were held for the following officers : President, Vice-President, Secretary-T reasurer, Auditor, Publicity Director, Recording Secretary, Entertainment Committee Chairman. Sick Visitor. Election was by popular vote. Mr. Hinder acting as chairman. Mr. Julius Sobonya' and Joseph László, rye re nominated for the office of president. Mr. László declined whereupon Mr. Sobonya was asked to accept the office.- This he accepted. The office of Vice-President and Sick Visitor was filled by Mr. Joseph László. Mr. R. J. Phillips was again unanimously reelected to the office of Secretary-Treasurer with George Noch serving as Auditor. The office of the Publicity Director was filled by Nr. Joseph Becsi. , ■ The office of the Entertainment Committee Chairman is being served by Nr. .George Noch, The Recording Secretary was unanimously reelected. The question of the Secretary - Treasurer salary was brought up. It was approved by all members present to have the Treasurer receive a salary of 120.00 annually. A suggestion was made by Mr. Hinder to have a dinner in honor of all past and forecoming officers. However, there is nothing definite on this yet. In consideration of the time and as all business had fun they are missing. Why not come around and help to make the year 1937 the most been transacted, the meeting was adjourned. The regular mo’nthly meeting of the English Sneaking Branch of the Verhovay Association was held the first Sunday of the month in the Club Room of the St. Emory Catholic Church, corner of Chestnut and Sixth Avenue, Cambria City, at 2 p. m. An election of officers was held with the following results: President Andrew Gaydos Vice-Pres. Adolph V. Thorofsky. Sec’y-Trs. Stephen Balogh Publicity Ag’t Louis Vince Entertainment Committee Emery Vince, James Galik, John' Klesch, Stephen Balog, William Arnosky, Andrew Kukoly. The newly-elected officers will be installed at the next meeting. Under the capable leadership of the new officers, an interesting year, including outings and plays, has been planned. To those who are not attending these monthly meeting do not know what outstanding year in the history of the organization? Publicity. Grand prizes will die given to the 15 young members securing the most points in the membership drive, according to the rules of the contest SHORT SUMMARY OF THE RULES OF THE CONTEST: 1. The eligible contestant may compete separately in both of the above described groups of prizes, ending May 31, 1937. In each group that contestant will be the winner who attained the highest number of points in securing new members, in strict accordance with the rules of the contest. 2. It is binding upon each contestant that be or she be a member of the Verhovay Fraternal Insurance Association or if not a member, that he or she should join now. 3. The members secured can be: senior or junior members who take out policies of from $250.00 to $5,000.00 values or Junior Order members who take out policies with a monthly premium of 15 or 20 cents. 4. Only those NEW members can be included in the contest who have paid their policy premiums or monthly dues for at least six months during and before the close of the contest. 5. The computing of the results of the contest for securing new members according to credits — is to be done in accordance with the following tables: REGULAR INSURANCE (If monthly dues are paid six months) The securing of a $ 250.00 policy represents 500 points The securing of a $ 500.00 policy represents 1,000 points The securing of a $ 1,000.00 policy represents 2,000 points The securing of a $ 5,000.00 policy represents 10,000 points (If monthly dues are paid twelve months) The securing of a $ 250.00 policy represents 1,500 points The scouring of a $ 500.00 policy represents 3,000 points The securing of a $ 1,000.00 policy represents 6,000 points The securing of a $ 5,000.00 policy represents 30,000 points (The amount of insurance falling between these amounts, wiO he credited to the contestant according to this table). ✓ IN THE JUNIOR ORDER (If the monthly dues are paid six months) With a 15c mo. premium, each new member represents 400 pt. With a 25c mo. premium, each new member represents 600 pt. (If the monthly dues are paid 12 month) With a 15c mo. premium, each new member represents 1200 pt. With a 25c mo. premium, each new member represents 2000 pt. 6. The closing time of the contest for securing new members is 12 o'clock noon, May 31, 1937. The prizes named, will be awarded by the Home Office of the Verhovay Fraternal Insurance Association. This decision is acknowledged as binding by all the contestants, upon their announcing their intention of taking part in the Contest. It is binding upon the contestants to use a steamship and railroad ticket, personally, by taking part in the Tour of Study. 7. In case of tie, each contestant wins a prize. Supreme Officers, employees of the Home Office. District Managers as well as the children of the above named, cannot take part in the Contest. 8. However, the members of the Branches, Secretaries and Officers can take part in the Contest. They can also take part in the Contest by backing one member of the Branch in their efforts to win in the Contest. 9. The publishing of the exact votes will be taken care of by the Home Office by publishing the list of the contestants names and their standing from time to time. 10. The forms and documents for the beginning of the securing of new members as well as the personal admission of the contestants can be obtained free of charge from any District Organizer, or Secretary of the Verhovay Fraternal Insurance Association or from the Home Office. ák i i
