11. On the Stage - Theatre, Opera, Music, etc.

ON THE STAGE 85 other children may also enjoy performances which take place in “unusual” settings, such as the Lutheran Church in Deák tér, the Matthias Church and the Dominican Courtyard of the Hilton Hotel on Castle Hill, the courtyards of both the Music History Museum and the Budapest History Museum, and inside the Ethnographical Museum (8). Special concerts for children take place from autumn to spring on Saturday an Sunday mornings at the Vigadó Concert Hall [Festi Vigadó], though you might not be able to get in without a season ticket. Watch out for special events during the Budapest Music Weeks (Sep-Oct), particularly on 1st October, World Music Day. Cinema The English-language newspapers (1) list English- language films being screened in Budapest. “Pesti Műsor” sometimes lists films recommended for children [Gyermekeknek ajánlott filmek]. These are usually cartoon-films where language presents no problem.
