damage inflicted by the war were repaired after the war and the building was completely renovated between 1989 and 1991. On November 17, 1991 it was elevated to the rank of a Polish personal parish. In the churchyard on the Óhegy utca side there stands a simple limestone cross. The bilingual inscrip­tion on the pedestal records the memory of the Polish legionaries: To the memory of / the Polish legionaries / who fell in the World War. Near the cross, on the wall of the sturdy tower next to the sanctuary, there is a white marble plaque with a bronze portrait of Bishop Wladyslaw Ban- durski (1865-1932), a close associate of Marshal Pilsudski and the army chaplain of the Polish legion. The inscription reads: WLADYSLAW BAHDURSKI / Bishop of Lwow / consecrated the site of this church on 27 June 1915. / In remembrance and reverence / the public of the capital city Budapest / the Polish Memorial Committee / Association of Polish Legionaries. Walking through glass-inlaid doors into the church porch, we can see several memorial plaques on the walls. To the left on a white marble plaque there is a list in Latin of the names of the persons in office at the time of the inauguration of the church. The names of ecclesiastical and state dignitaries are followed by a long list of the persons, companies and organisations who had contributed financially to the building of the church. There are several memorial records to the right of the entrance. Unveiled in 1930, one of them records the consecration of the church and the name of August Hlond (1881-1948) on a marble plaque in two languages. This church / was consecrated by / cardinal prince-primate AUGUST HLOHD on 15 August 1930 / on the tenth anniversary of the great battle at Warsaw in which / Polish prowess fought back / the Red Army. / In the name of the thousand-year-old Polish-Hungarian friendship / THE HUHGARIAH- POLISH ASSOCIATION.
