after 1945 to an inside spot near the entrance. Next to it there is a black marble plaque with a Polish inscription, which was put up in 1992 by the Polish firm Novex of Kielce, on the first anniversary of the declaration of the church a personal parish. A small brass plate below it, put up by the Polish company which carried out the renovation, commemorates the date when the work was completed. The most recent memorial is a plaque, placed in 1995, to the left of the doors which separate the porch from the main nave. It commemorates Danek Wincenty (1870-1945). Measuring 20 cm in the dia­meter, the bronze portrait occupies the left-hand cor­ner of the plaque, next to an inscribed Polish prayer for the church and the Poles living in Hungary. The bilingual inscription on the memorial plaque made in Poland and presented by the Polish Embassy reads: On the 50h anniversary of the death of the builder and first parish priest of this church / in grat­itude for his life’s work. Entering the interior of the church our eyes are caught by the frontal surface of the cross vault. The waving, raffled ribbon painted below the Polish and the Hungarian coat of arms bears the bilingual inscrip­tions: UNDER YOUR PROTECTION WE RUN. Most of the stained glass windows, the finest orna­mentation of the church, were made by Béla Dobsa and József Palka. On the left-hand wall are the images of Saint Adalbert, Saint Ladislas, Blessed (from 1999 Saint) Kinga and Blessed Salome; on the other side Saint Zoerardus, Blessed Yolanda, Saint Casimir and Menyhért Grodecz, who was canonised in 1995. Saint Adalbert (956-997) bishop of Prague, later Benedictine monk, confirmed the first Hungarian king, Stephen. He was active as a missionary in Czech, Polish, German and Hungarian territories. He died a martyr in Prussia. Saint Ladislas (1046-95) was an outstanding king of Hungary. Blessed Kinga of the House of Árpád (1224-92), patron saint of the Poles resident in Hungary, daughter of King Béla IV, wife of Boleslaw the Chaste, duchess of Krakow and Sendo- miria.
