Illegal Immigration Illegal immigrants are pouring into the United States by the millions. Knowledgeable people put the illegals already in the U.S. between 15 to 20 million. They are flooding our border states and in time migrate to the north. Hungarians who wish to immigrate to the U.S. cannot just walk over the border, but have to wait their turn. The poeple of South and Central Americal who are flooding into our country are trying to escape the problems of their own creation. They have allowed their fertile lands to be run by gangsters and dictators. Theirs was also a new land of opportunity, but they have made a mess of it and now they are eying the land of the north developed by people of different values. Our cities are turned into battle grounds, our young poisoned by their drugs. Some of our conniving politicians see them as a way to power. Seeing this chaos, voices are being raised to put a clamp on immigration altogether, which would penalize our people who are waiting their turn to immigrate to the U.S. We favor the new Immigration Bill introduced by Sen. Alan Simpson (R-Wyo.). This Bill would make it unlawful for employers, union hiring halls and others to hire, recruit or refer illegal aliens for jobs. Unlike Simpson’s last effort, this bill has some support of business because it does not contain requirements that employers maintain extensive records on job applicants. Employers who keep records will be presumed innocent unless proven guilty on charges of knowingly hiring undocumented aliens.
