TRAVEL HUNGARY It’s travel-to-Hungary-time again. Many American-Hungarians are planning to go. More than 100,000 of them visited Hungary last year. This year, Hungarian travel/tourism officials predict, the total number of visitors from the United States will be record-breaking. Their prediction is based upon the fact that travel to Hungary now is much easier than ever before; first-class hotel accommodations are plentiful; sightseeing tours have been modernized and expanded; and, most important of all, costs are reasonable because the American dollar is worth much more in 1984 than it has for the past 10 years. If you’re planning to visit Hungary this year talk it over first with your LOCAL TRAVEL AGENT Ht vili advise you how to get there at the lowest possible cost, make all your travel arrangements (including hotel reservations, car rental, etc.), help you to apply for and obtain required travel documents (passport and visa), provide you with up-to-the-minute information about currency exchange rates, and other services WITHOUT ANY SERVICE CHARGE. One way to cut down your travel costs is to take advantage of special discount fares offered by the airlines providing service to Budapest. During the high season (May 15-September 15), for example, the regular round-trip fare New York- Budapest-New York is currently about $1596.00. But, if you book via APEX or ADVANCED PURCHASE EXCURSION FARE, the cost is only about $799.00 plus $3.00 tax, while for departures before May 15th, the cost is only about $649.00 plus $3.00 tax. All fares are subject to change, of course, and each airline has its own special offer. Also, some travel agents specializing in travel to Hungary organize groups and this appears to be the best deal of all. This is another reason why you should talk over your travel-to- Hungary plans with your LOCAL TRAVEL AGENT. Experienced travelers say that mid-April to July is the best time to visit Hungary. The weather is mild and the entire country is geared up to welcome visitors not only from the United States, but also from all over the world. One of the reasons for this influx of tourists is that Budapest hosts a series of international fairs and exhibits during this period of time. Among these are the 8th International Vehicle Maintenance and Garage Industry Exhibition, the 7th International Exhibition of the Building Industry, the 2nd International Labor Safety and Security Technique Exhibition, the Budapest International Spring Fair, and others. This year, international fashion shows and athletic events are also scheduled. If you have never visited Hungary before, but plan to go this year, it is suggested that you get a copy of the BERLITZ COUNTRY GUIDE TO HUNGARY ($6.95). It is chock-full of information, maps, and even Hungarian phrases to help you get around without any difficulties. Bon Voyage! If you spend some time at one of the outdoor cafes on Margaret Island in Budapest, you will see people from all over the world, and meet some of them, too.
