4. The services of an Attorney to provide legal counsel and representation, and a Certified Public Accountant to handle the financial records and reports of the Foundation, have been retained. Copies of the organization's Financial Statement will be made available to the membership at each Annual Meeting, or by mail for those who cannot be present for any reason. 5. To facilitate administration and communications, the office address of the Foundation has been changed to: P.0. Box 2203, Union, New Jersey 07083 (Tel: 201-964-8464). 6. The first major project adopted for immediate introduction nationwide by the Foundation is the organization of a UNITED HUNGARIAN-AMERICAN COMMITTEE FOR THE RESTORATION OF THE STATUE OF LIBERTY-ELLIS ISLAND. This national committee, for which a Steering Committee is already in the process of being organized, will be comprised of official representatives from Hungarian clubs, churches, organizations, etc. Its primary purpose will be to participate in a unified fundraising drive in order to make a contribution - ON BEHALF OF THE HUNGARIAN COMMUNITY IN AMERICA - towards the $230 million cost of restoring the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island and maintaining both as national monuments symbolizing what America stands for throughout the world. The Polish, Italian, German and many other ethnic communities in the United States - EXCEPT THE HUNGARIAN - are already committed to participation in such a "grassroots" fundraising endeavor and it would be shameful, indeed, if we Hungarian-Americans cannot get together to do the same. Especially in view of the fact that, it was a Hungarian immigrant who helped to erect the Statue of Liberty! It is hoped that, once this UNITED HUNGARIAN COMMITTEE FOR THE RESTORATION OF THE STATUE OF LIBERTY - ELLIS ISLAND emerges into reality - and it will - it will remain intact and functioning as a nationwide force for unification of the Hungarian-American community for the preservation of our Hungarian heritage. 7. Several other major projects were proposed and discussed, among them the inclusion of a suitable Hungarian exhibit in the American Museum of Immigration and the establishment of a Hungarian-American Hall of Fame. As each of these projects are brought on line, the members of the Foundation will be notified. 8. Because the Foundation is now in great need of "seed money" with which to cover the cost of preparing for and launching its UNITED HUNGARIAN-AMERICAN COMMITTEE FOR THE RESTORATION OF THE STATUE OF LIBERTY-ELLIS ISLAND project, all members who have not yet paid their 1984 dues ($10.00) are requested to do so without further delay. If you have already paid your 1984 membership dues, and can afford to make an extra contribution for the purpose mentioned, it would also be very helpful at this time. Please make your check or money order payable to The Hungarian Eighth Tribe Foundation and mail to: P .0. Box 2203, Union, New Jersey 07083. Your cooperation and assistance will be warmly welcomed and greatly appreciated. Paul Pulitzer^ President & Executive Director Page 10 Eighth Hungarian Tribe
