Up Coming Highlights Bethlen Home Halloween Walk 2005 Annual Halloween Walk Saturday, October 28 1-3 p.m. Each year the Activity Department at Bethlen Home sponsors a "Halloween Walk" for our employees' children and grandchildren. Families of residents are encouraged to help their loved one participate in the event. Residents supply their own treats, which are then distributed to the children during the walk. Residents or families should notify the Activity Department of intent to participate, so the Activity Department can label the rooms in which the children may visit. When buying your treats, please keep in mind the children will be ages 1 -10. Families may drop treats off to the Activity office. Because of diet concerns, treats will not be given to the resident to distribute until the day of the event. A sign-up sheet for staff will be posted by the time clock. Trick or Treat Saturday, October 28 2-4 p.m. Ligonier Gardens invites children for door to door trick-or-treating at our facility. Punch and snacks will be served afterward. Please call Lisa to RSVP by October 16. REMINDER! Ligonier Gardens would like to remind staff, residents and family to please send in your recipes for the Ligonier Gardens Cookbook by October 31. Ligonier Gardens Cooking Club Starting in September, Ligonier Gardens will start a cooking club. The "Cookers" will meet twice a month with Jennifer Stitt, Dietary Manager, and Lisa Burkley, Activity Director. While learning about nutrition, sanitation and different cooking methods, the "Cookers" will be encouraged to reminisce about their favorite cooking stories. The club will make a variety of food including apple pie, cakes, homemade noodles, dips and much more. Picking vegetables at Ligonier Gardens Attention Ligonier Gardens Visitors Due to new fire regulations, everyone must sign the guest book upon entering the building and sign out upon leaving. This is for your own safety in case of a fire. The book is located in the front lobby. Thank you. Harvesting Vegetables Residents recently helped harvest home-grown vegetables planted this past spring at Ligonier Gardens. The vegetable garden included green peppers, cucumbers, and Cherry, Big Boy and Roma tomatoes. Incorporated into regular menu items by the kitchen staff, vegetables were also enjoyed during a resident Harvest Party. 4 The Messenger
