jfrom t\)t Beák of 3íulte é>kobtra The staff and residents of Ligonier Gardens would like to take this time to Thank everyone for the many gifts, cards, and prayers we received throughout the holiday season. Your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated. I would also like to thank everyone for your understanding and cooperation with the holiday meals. Unfortunately, due to space, we are not able to accommodate all family members at the holiday meal times. You are more than welcome to use the Great Room on the second floor for any special event you would like to plan with your family member. Please call ahead to reserve the room. We would be happy to provide the coffee and / or tea. Again this year, it was a joy to be able to spend time with family members who were able to attend our annual Christmas Party. I think we all had a wonderful time. I would like to share with everyone a benefit that is available to veterans, their widows and their dependent children. To qualify for this benefit through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, you must have served one (1) day of active duty and have been honorably discharged. For more information on your eligibility for this benefit, call toll free 1-877-222- VETS or obtain information on the internet at www.va.gov/elig. Eligible Veterans could receive up to $1,300.00 per month and their wives up to $800.00 to help pay for their room and board in a personal care facility. The paper work involved is time consuming but well worth it. We are so grateful to our Veterans and their families for all the sacrifices they have made for our country. Our lives have been touched by so many residents who have lost their battle with cancer or are currently fighting the battle. We are pleased to be a part of the fight against this disease. Once again, Ligonier Gardens is sponsoring a team during the American Cancer Society Relay for Life May 22 through May 23, 2004 at Weller Field, Ligonier. Last year we raised almost $1,000.00 and hope to top that this year. The funds are used for cancer research, education, advocacy and patient service programs. The event is a celebration of life for survivors, a memorial for loved ones lost, and a rally for the community to fight cancer. For a $1.00 donation we will hang a sun card in honor of your loved one or a moon card in memory of your loved one in the windows of Ligonier Gardens. Luminaries for $10.00 can also be purchased at our facility, and they will be lit during the moving luminaries ceremony at 9:00 p.m. at Weller Field. During this ceremony, they will announce the name of your loved one who has survived cancer or in memory of someone you have lost to cancer. Also, donations can be accepted at our facility. Please make checks payable to the American Cancer Society. We have so much to look forward to in the upcoming year now that the building project has begun. Thank you again for your continued support. If you have any questions or concerns, please call or stop by. Our doors are always open. I would be glad to meet with you at your convenience.
