Sctibttp PMgíjltgíjtő A MISSION TO SOUTH DAKOTA By Réka Posta Recently I took a trip to Eagle Butte, South Dakota on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation for a missions' trip for Habitat for Humanities. The Valley Youth Network has been organizing missions' trips for the past several years. On these trips they take a group of kids from the community and go help others in need. Through Habitat for Humanities, kids from our community have been able to help families in Jackson, Mississippi, Maine and now Eagle Butte, South Dakota. On this trip, about twenty of my fellow classmates, some chaperones and me helped remodel two habitat houses. We built a roof, resided a house, painted a house and took siding off a house. We also did some landscaping and some other odd jobs. A lot of fundraising was involved for this trip for the Okiciyapi tipi Habitat for Humanities. Since the volunteers pay for all of the supplies for the houses, the food and gas for these trips can be costly. Fortunately, when asked, the Bethlen Home was more than happy to help out with the cost. They sponsored me for my trip, and I appreciate it greatly. Without the help of the Bethlen Home, I might not have been able to go. Taking this trip has given me memories I will keep with me for a lifetime. dje petijlen Home Executive Director.................Rev. Imre A.
