^ctíínt^ pítgijítgljts FOR THIS IS HALLOWEEN Without a sound spooks prowl around, For this is Halloween. The white ghosts bound upon the ground For this is Halloween. The shadows gaunt, their long arms flaunt, But ghouls and goblins never daunt. Across the sky the queer shades fly, For this is Halloween. Strange Jack-O-lights shine in the night, For this is Halloween. Each eerie sprite shrieks form the sight, For this is Halloween. The night winds groan and shriek and moan, And children mustn't be alone, While black cats race, and fairies chase, For this is Halloween. The owls dart and make one start, For this is Halloween. With subtle art, elves play the part, For this is Halloween. Like omens ill, the dead leaves fill Each doorway and each windowsill; When pumpkins glow, then we all know\ This must be Halloween. HALLOWEEN CONTEST It's that time of year again when we can start to put on our thinking caps and figure out what outrageous and silly character we want to be for a day. Once again, the Activity Department will be sponsoring their annual Halloween Contest to Staff members and Residents. We encourage everyone to dress up for the festivities. Costume dress-up day will be held on Thursday, October 31st. Prizes will be given for the Best Costume, Most Original and the Funniest Costume. Judging will be done at noon time in the Dining Room by the Residents. So everyone, let's get busy and plan on some fun and good laughs. IN HONOR OF THANKSGIVING One of the most favored holidays, especially for families to get together, is "Thanksgiving". I'm sure many of you can recall the many hours of hard work and preparation for the day. This is also one of the busiest holidays for families to travel to be with their loved ones. Thanksgiving is also a time for us to share with our family and friends how much we appreciate and love them and also give "Thanks" to God for what He has blessed us with. I hope you enjoy the following poems. I'm sure they will bring back some fond memories. A THANKSGIVING PRAYER Give me this day With family and friends; Give me a home Where love never ends; Give me a smile For loved ones to share; Give me strong shoulders For Burdens to bear. Give me a moment To savor this day; Give me a lifetime My debts to repay; Yes, all these I ask, and the reason I do Is that as I receive I may give back to you. THANKSGIVING MUSINGS Turkey, whole or sliced; Tea, iced or spiced; Broccoli, steamed or riced; Make Thanksgiving nice. Family, far or near; Friends, loved and dear; Relationships, known and clear; People, loved who have no peers. Resident Halloween Party will be held Thursday, October 31st at 2 p.m. in the Dining Room with entertainment and refreshments. Come and join in on the fun and watch the weekly activity schedule boards for a week of spook-tac-ular fun!!! Time relaxing, having fun; Work, embarked upon and done; Battles, fought and won; Wondrous day, from rising to setting sun.
