CHINESE NEW YEAR VALENTINE SURPRISE Now that the holidays have passed, January can be kind of a let down, boring month. So to change that, the Activity Department decided to hold a Chinese Luncheon for the residents in honor of Chinese New Year which is celebrated in January. The Solarium was decorated with various Chinese decorations, and chop sticks were also available if they wanted to meet the challenge. The residents were served a variety of traditional foods such as egg rolls, wonton soup and several stir-fry dishes. Needless to say, the luncheon was a hit, especially the fortune cookies. Many "Thanks" to the Volunteers for all their hard work in making the dinner such a great success. Pictured below are several residents and volunteers dressed for the occasion. This is our one of a kind Chinese steeler fan. Pictured are Volunteer Mario Battaglia and wife Irene. Pictured is Resident Olga Szabo waiting for the rest of her guests to arrive. Pictured left to right are residents Esther Forsythe, Olga Szabo and Alice Kocka. Employee Dana Flickenger was given a big Valentine surprise on Valentine's Day here at work from her fiance. Her number one fan had a Barbershop Quartet seranade her and present her with flowers. Needless to say, she was left speechless. Pictured are Dana and the Quartet. STEELER FAN WEEK Residents and staff recently enjoyed participating in Steeler and Superbowl Week. Residents, as well as staff, were dressed in their favorite Black and Gold colors or favorite player numbers. Many Residents also had their doors decorated with the hopes of winning the Superbowl. Pictured below was Resident Helen Percha hiding behind that helmet ready to cheer on the Steelers! A Superbowl Party concluded the week with the Residents learning several of the Steeler fight songs that had been playing on the public airwaves. Here we go Steelers!
