OCTOBER: NATIONAL PHYSICAL THERAPY MONTH Your Physical Therapist is a key member of the Health Care Tearn, specially trained to improve movement and function, relieve pain, and expand your movement potential. Through evaluation and individualized treatment programs, physical therapists can both treat existing problems and provide preventative health care for people with a variety of needs. The Physical Therapy Evaluation is designed to gather information about your dysfunction (pain, loss of movement ability, or other problems). Treatment is based on four principles: pain reduction, neurological rehabilitation, improved range of motion, and increased strength. Your physical therapist may combine several treatments and methods, along with patient education and prevention, to help achieve your therapy goals. Today’s physical therapists are specialists who complete a four to six year college degree emphasizing the biological and medical sciences. After becoming licensed, physical therapists practice state-of-the-art health care in a variety of settings, including nursing homes. Unique, hands on specialists, physical therapists work with you to expand movement potential, decrease pain, and achieve therapy goals for optimal health. Please welcome Rick Schneider as our new Physical Therapist here at Bethlen Home. He and his wife Sandi are from the Natrona Heights area. Rick previously worked at Butler Memorial Hospital. He and his wife hope to start a family in the very near future. HALLOWEEN CONTEST It’s that time of year again when we can start to put on our thinking caps and figure out what outrageous character we want to be for a day. Once again, the Activity Department will be sponsoring their annual Halloween Contest to staff members. Residents are also encouraged to dress up for the party. Costume dress-up day will be held on Saturday, October 30th for daylight and afternoon shifts. Prizes will be given for Best Costume, Most Original, and the Funniest Costume. So, staff, let’s get busy and plan on some fun and good laughs. Resident and staff Halloween Party will be held Saturday, October 30th at 3 p.m. in the Dining Room, with special entertainment and refreshments. Come and join in on the fun!!!! FOR THIS IS HALLOWEEN Without a sound spooks prowl around, For this is Halloween. The white ghosts bound upon the ground, For this is Halloween. The shadows gaunt, their long arms flaunt, But ghouls and goblins never daunt. Across the sky the queer shades fly, For this is Halloween. Strange Jack-o-lights shine in the night, For this is Halloween. Each eerie sprite shrieks from the sight, For this is Halloween. The night-winds groan and shriek and moan, And children mustn’t be alone, While black cats race, and fairies chase, For this is Halloween. The owls dart and make one start, For this is Halloween. With subtle art, elves play the part, For this is Halloween. Like omens ill, the dead leaves fill Each doorway and each windowsill; When pumpkins glow, then we all know, This must be Halloween. The staff of Bethlen Home extends their deepest sympathy to the families and friends of the following former residents.
