JRßöifrßnt, Jitaff mib ^íoíunter Profiles by Resident Susan Wargo This issue, I decided to do two staff members who have worked in the Bethlen Home for more than ten years. I think you will enjoy learning more about them and their families. Alice Newell - Staff Member Alice has been employed at the Bethlen Home for over 19 years as a Certified Nurse’s Aide. She informs me that during this time, she has seen many changes in personnel and residents, and the nursing home itself, with its advancements in equipment and remodeling. Alice was born in Robinson, PA, which was known as a mining town. She presently lives around the same area, in Bolivar, PA, with her husband. They have two children and four grandchildren. Alice’s favorite foods are chicken and ice cream. When asked what her pet peeves were, she commented on people minding their own business and people learning to cooperate with their fellow coworkers. Evelyn Pritts - Staff Member Evelyn has worked in the Dietary Department for over 18 years. She presently started working only part time, and is looking forward to retirement. Evelyn was born and raised in Johnstown, PA, lived on a farm, and graduated from West Mont High School in 1952. She then met her husband Clare and had three children. She and her husband recently became proud grandparents. Some of Evelyn’s favorite hobbies are crocheting, sewing (making clothes) and doing a wide variety of crafts. Her favorite foods are all Italian. Evelyn also commented on the many changes in the nursing home since she was first employed. A SPECIAL VOLUNTEER “CONGRATULATIONS” to one of our volunteers, Donna Brown, on her recent success in receiving a teaching position in Hagerstown, Maryland. Donna also worked as a Volunteer Coordinator with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program for the Westmoreland County Community College. She has been a volunteer and worked at getting volunteers into non-profit organizations such as the Bethlen Home. The Activity Department has enjoyed working with Donna over the last seven years. We will miss you, but wish you the best of luck and happiness on your new adventure. The volunteers of Bethlen Home recently held a surprise luncheon for Donna and presented her with a briefcase to fill up with all those papers she will be correcting soon. Any resident or volunteer wishing to write to Donna may do so at the following address: DONNA BROWN 1684 LANGLEY DRIVE, APARTMENT 112 HAGERSTOWN, MARYLAND 21740 “CONGRATULATIONS, DONNA”.
