The Bethlen Home Messenger, 1991-1992 (1-4. szám)

1992-09-01 / 4. szám

SUDDENLY SEPTEMBER Just overnight the goldenrod Puts on its dusty golden plumes, And from the sun-dried milkweed pods Whirl fairies midst frost-flower blooms. Beside the fence of weathered gray, Queen Anne has spread her lace to dry. The trees flaunt patchwork gaudy, gay, And woodsmoke spirals toward the sky The sumac glows; the candle trees Lift golden tapers; woodvines blush. There’s sudden whisperings of the leaves When night winds sigh through evening’s hush. Who saw the Summer as she left Tiptoeing through the moonlit frost? Who heard her crying as She wandered lonely, chilled and lost? For suddenly September comes, Her banners bold with Autumn gleams, To heralding of partridge drums, And Summer leaves but echoed dreams. SUMMER FULFILLED by Georgia B. Adams Summer has fulfilled herself. Still lovely yet; She turns her face to Autumn without regret. Her months are steeped in beauty. Each blowing leaf, Each fragile, dew sweet petal cups the belief. That Summer is the gayest of all the year. . . And yet, with her departure there comes no She makes a simple curtsy. Then to retire To usher in the Autumn and its attire. Summer has fulfilled her vows, though lovely yet; She turns her face towards Autumn without regret... erUice (ttnrner by Pat Armel September is National Courtesy Month! It is important that we concern ourselves with culture, not just as one among many, but in the broadest sense, the “culture of everything”, the general level of public manners. By this, we mean the kind of relations that exist among people. We should do everything we can to raise the general level of civility, or at least everything we can to express a personal interest in such an improvement. This ultimately would make life more pleasant, more interesting, more varied and more bearable. Frustration is one of the common causes of anger. It is beginning to seem as if this is our national emotion. If uncontrolled, it can be dangerous. It is important to learn how to manage our frustration: recognize it; identify the cause; decide what to do about it. October 12 is MOMENT OF FRUSTRATION SCREAM DAY! All citizens of the world will go outdoors at noon time and ‘‘SCREAM”for30seconds. Let’sdoitand maybe we will all feel better!!! çAhmtsigtons The Bethlen Home staff wishes to extend a warm welcome to the following new residents and their families: MARY ALICE SHIELDS J.
