JIReötfrßttt Sc ß>tnii profiles by Resident Susan Wargo Resident Susan Wargo came up with the suggestion of having a column of profiles for the new admissions and new employees. Listed below are several profiles done by Susan. We hope you will enjoy them. Joann Hall - Staff Member Joanne is a 1960 graduate of Latrobe Area Hospital. She worked in Johnstown Hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Medical Surgery Department and was also involved in Community Nursing. Her great-grandfather came from Czechoslovakia to Mt. Pleasant, PA, raised a family of four boys and one girl and lived on a large farm. Joann currently lives in Bolivar, PA, and has five children and six grandchildren. Her youngest child will be graduating this yearfrom Laurel Valley Senior High School. She enjoys being around people and loves to travel. She has been to Hawaii twice and is planning a trip to Texas. Her favorite food is lobster and her worst pet peeve is dishonesty. She prefers you to tell her like it is. Roberta Mayer - Volunteer Roberta is a graduate of New Florence Senior High School. She also worked as a Postmistress for 39 years doing various job. Her biggest accomplishments in life are her marriage and raising a family. She enjoys helping others and says that she’d rather be hurt than to hurt others. People would be surprised to know that she used to be a plane spotter for the Civil Defense for World War II. As a hobby she has taught Sunday School and helped with Girl Scouts. We appreciate Roberta joining our Volunteer Group here at Bethlen. We know she will be bringing smiles to many faces. Michael G. Davis - Staff Member Michael is a graduate of Mt. Pleasant SeniorHigh School. In 1969 he worked as an orderly at St. Anne’s Nursing Home in Greensburg, PA. He was also in the Navy Medical Corp and was stationed at the Great Lakes and in Florida at the Naval Academy. He is also a 1982 graduate of Westmoreland County Community College as a Registered Nurse. After graduation, he worked 9-1/2 years at Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg, PA in the Medical Surgery Department. He was born in Los Angelos, California and comes from a family of five brothers, four sisters, and eleven nieces and nephews. He claims to be a steak and potatoes man. He enjoys backpacking and hiking in the mountains, and has a large musical collection of tapes and records. He enjoys being around people and also caring for the elderly. One of Michael’s favorite holidays is HALLOWEEN! This is because he also celebrates his birthday on this day. Carol Anne Blackburn - Staff Member “Anne” is a 1959 graduate from Bethesda Hospital in Ohio. She has worked various positions from Staff Nurse to Director of Nursing. She also has worked in a prison and a convent as a nurse. Anne is married and has an 11 month old grandson, who lives in Holland with her son, who is in the Air Force and stationed in Holland. She will be looking forward to their visit this summer. Her favorite hobbies are collecting antique pottery in Roseville patterns, of which she currently has over 300 pieces, baking, and she loves pizza. Her worst pet peeve is when someone is unkind to others. She always tries to set a good example.
