^Roaming ^Reporter by Resident Olga Szabo WEDDING BELLS Get me to the church on time, because wedding bells will be ringing for our Medical Records Secretary Michele Alesi and her honey, John. An October 24th wedding is being planned. This will be a shindig to remember!! Congratulations to Dana Plummer and Charlie. A wedding in 1993 is planned. Also, congratulations are in order for Dana for graduating from Ligonier Valley Senior High School this June. Her mother, Ethel Plummer, and sisters, Barb Biss and Jessie Funk, will be throwing a special graduation party. NEW ARRIVALS EXPECTED: Janet and Robert McCauslin are the happy couple decorating a nursery. The baby is due in August, and Janet tells us that her test results say that it’s going to be a girl. Sue and Matt McGeary are also expecting in mid- June. A new addition to the McGeary household will make dinner for four. Their son will soon have a playmate. Lori and David Gross will be expecting their first. Congratulations! Lori just found out right before Mother’s Day. What a special gift to a special couple. NEW GRANDMOTHERS: Joan Luff recently became grandma for the first time. Michael Jon Luff was born on March 31st. Helena Rummel became grandma for the second time. This time, it was a baby girl named Kati Nicole Knupp, born March 6th. Janet Shaffer’s family also had another addition. Dylan James Shaffer, born on March 13th. This is Janet’s fifth grandchild. Dorothy Kisser is a pro at being grandma. She recently had her seventh. Patrick Michael McDonald was born March 14th. Now there’s a good Irish name. GET WELL Send a get well card to our Barbara Biss (our night owl on midnight shift). She recently had surgery and is doing fine. A TRIP TO NEW YORK CITY Sherry Humbertson, our Activity Director, was off on a vacation to New York City. Took the “A” train, which was an experience in itself. The arrival at Grand Central station in New York City was like another world, with all the people rushing to subways, exits, taxis, etc. Sherry said, she just got into a cab when the door was shut and off it went. She visited all the tourist attractions of the Big Apple and Madison Square Garden, where the Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus was appearing under the big tent. She then went to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Rockefeller Plaza, Radio City, World Trade Center, Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, etc. “Thanks” to Olga being a city girl herself, and also being from the Big Apple, she was able to tell us all of the hot spots to go! Thanks again!!! UPDATE ON ELIZABETH TOTH The plants and flowers miss her gentle touch, and the conversations she used to have with all the flowering plants. Since December 22nd, she has been in a wheelchair and mostly confined to her room with back pain. After 3-1/2 months, she has started to use her walker and is getting out of her room more. When you get a chance, drop in and see her. She is in room 230 on East Wing. You will find her watching her favorite sport, “Baseball”. You will never guess who her favorite team is: “The Mets”. She’s still a homegitl after all. Jfrnm tlje Jîesk of (Ahmintetrafor Submitted by Rev. Paul Kovács!“Leader"! LET’S GET RID OF MANAGEMENT People don’t want to be managed. They want to be led. Whoever heard of a world manager? World leader, yes. Educational leader. Political leader. Religious leader. Scout leader. Community leader. Labor leader. Business leader. They lead. They don’t manage. The carrot always wins over the stick. Ask your horse. You can lead your horse to water, but you can’t manage him to drinx. If you want to manage somebody, manage yourself. Do that well and you’ll be ready to stop managing. And start leading. The staff of Bethlen Home extends its deepest sympathy to the families and friends of the following former residents.
