SctíWtp ïjigbligbt UPCOMING SUMMER EVENTS Residents be sure to watch out for the following special events to be announced during the next few months. Details will be posted on the bulletin boards located by the nurse's station. JUNE The activity department will be holding their first annual cookout for the season on Friday, June 8th weather permitting. An Ice Cream Social with special entertainment will be held the second Sunday in June. Family members are welcome to attend. A picnic outing to Twin Lakes Park will be held during the month of June. A special dress up day will be held for the employee's and residents with the theme being "Day at the Beach". Several trips to Valley School's Day Camp will be held. Residents will be able to attend special selected educational classes. A special luncheon will be held, for men only, to honor Father's Day. Various treats will be distributed throughout the month. JULY Four special outings are planned for this month. Residents interested on attending the outings should see Ann or Sherry. Residents interested in learning the history of Compass Inn will want to attend this outing. A special lunch will also be available. Resident Blanche Demangone and Marion Feight will be able to share a lot of the history with us due to being former volunteers at Compass Inn. Reservations are a must if you enjoy going on the Gateway Clipper. Cost is $16.00 per resident. This includes a special luncheon and a three hour cruise. Those of you who love musicals will enjoy attending Green Gables Mountain Playhouse to see Annie Get Your Gun. Dinner will also be held after the afternoon matinee at the Green Gables Restaurant. Cost for this outing will be $25.00 per resident; this includes the matinee and dinner. Due to the layout of Green Gables Restaurant and Playhouse seating, we are only able to take ambulatory residents on this outing. Lunch and train ride are planned on this outing to Calbom Station in Normalville. There you will learn about the history of this mining town. This outing also requires ambulatory residents only due to the layout. Cost will be $10.00 per resident. Employee dress up day will be held. This month's theme will be Backwards Day. An old fashioned ice cream social will also be held this month. Residents will be able to create their own toppings. AUGUST A special afternoon luncheon outing will be held at the Brass Duck. Residents and employees will be able to dress up in purple on Everything's Purple Day. A special visit from the purple cow will be held in the afternoon. Residents interested in learning the history of the Linden Hall Mansion will want to go on this trip. A special luncheon and tour will be provided on this trip. This outing will require ambulatory residents. A special surprise outing will also be held. Residents signing up for this outing will be going on a mystery tour!! A special Western Day will be held at the end of August. A large barbecue is planned along with special entertainment. Residents' families are welcome to attend. SPRING FLOWER SHOW Residents and volunteers recently made a trip into Phipps Conservatory to view the Spring Flower Show. Everyone was breathtaken from all the beautiful colors and variety of flowers that were on display. Resident Cye Heintzelman particularly enjoyed the Banana trees. Cye was interested in sneaking a mid-day snack. After the tour ended, residents were ready to enjoy lunch at a special restaurant. The day was simply beautiful and the trip ended with a special stop at the local Dairy Queen. Needless to say everyone rested well that night including the driver!
