Fraternity i Testvériség Liliana K. Varga Good News I am always excited when there is good news to report about young members of our church. This time it is even more special to me because one of the youngest members of our Branch, Liliana K. Varga, my own granddaughter who is 3 1/2 years old, finished her first ballet class. Her parents enrolled her due to her interest in dancing which probably dates back to all the times we danced the Csárdás with her in our living room. Her ballet recital occurred on Feb. 17th and she was excellent, but this is a proud grandmother reporting. Branch 13fi — Pittsburgh, PA Christmas dinner party On December 12, after the church services at the Hungarian Reformed Church of Duquesne in our social hall, we held our Christmas dinner party. It was another successful party for our Branch members. Not only do these parties bring joy to the children, but they also allow parents and grandparents to enjoy the event. Approximately 25 branch and church members were present at this party. We are thankful to Mrs. Olga Darnay, former Branch Manager, Amanda Kash Clement, Barbara Revak, and Mrs. Ilona Posta, who prepared the delicious dinner as well as the gifts for the children. Our Branch officers wish all members and their families a most happy and blessed Easter. Rev. Dr. Joseph Posta, Branch Manager Branch 151 — Beaver Falls, PA She also loves to watch pre-school programs on PBS. One morning, the show featured languages and viewers were asked to send a greeting in a different language. With her parents’ help, she emailed a greeting in Hungarian to the station. Two hours later, the reporter announced that there was an email from Liliana: “This is the way we say ‘Good Morning’ in the Hungarian language — ‘Jo Reggelt’.” Liliana was very excited that other children heard her Hungarian phrase. We need to remember that our youth are influenced by our actions and our language. There are so many easy and different ways to keep our Hungarian heritage alive and promote it amongst our youth. Some dedicated and caring contributors packed up to six boxes each. The boxes were then sent to the processing area in Boone, NC. Since 1993, 8 million children in over 130 countries have received the boxes, a tangible way for local churches and participants to demonstrate the good news of Christ’s birth. Special thanks to Rev. Geno Demarco and the Fabris for directing the local project. Rev. Geno Demarco and Peggy Fabri 23
