Fraternity I Testvériség Letters to the Editor 10/24/10 Dear Editor, It came as a complete and wonderful surprise that on October 23rd here in Hungary on Kossuth Radio an interview featuring HRFA ’s President Les Megyeri was featured by a reporter concerning his experiences in the ‘56 Revolution. He spoke of the 40 thousand Hungarians who came to America to create new lives for themselves. He particularly remembered viewing the Statue of Liberty in New York harbor and stepping on the grounds of a free nation. In 1968, he began his yearly trips back to Hungary as a result of the amnesty program. He still considers himself a proud Hungarian, belongs to many Hungarian organizations and brags to everyone he meets about Hungarian Nobel Prize winners and inventors; for example, illustrious Hungarians like Andrew Vajna, movie producer; Andy Grove, Intel-founder; and Steven Udvar-Hazy, the largest airplane leaser in America. Tisztelt Szerkesztőség! Már tavaly nyáron is szerettem volna Írni Önöknek, hogy megmondjam, milyen tökéletesen elmagyarázza a biztosítások lényegét Kathy Megyeri a Tőzsér Gáborról szóló cikkben. Aki azt elolvasta, annak már nem is kell elmagyarázni, hogy miért fontos az Amerikai Magyar Református Egyesület tagjának lenni. Ennél jobb cikket még nem olvastam a témában. A 2010 tavaszi számban tagjainkról, Max és Wendy Telekiről megjelent cikk is nagyon elnyerte a tetszésemet, és megmutatta, hogy az egyesületnek neves tagjai vannak. Az idei őszi kiadásban írást olvashattunk a szeptember 12-i nagyszülők napjáról, ez csodálatos dolog volt, mert erről a napról feledkeznek meg a legtöbben. Ez a magazin az egyetlen kapocs az Egyesület és a tagok között, mivel korábban a branch managerek személyesen gyűjtötték össze a prémiumokat, és a tagok minden alkalommal nagyon vártak minket. Rahill Margit szülei is mindig várták, hogy találkozzunk. Örök barátság maradt közöttünk Margittal és családjával, akikkel telefonon rendszeresen tartjuk a kapcsolatot azóta is, hogy Floridába költöztem. A Fraternity nélkül szegényebb volna az Egyesület, amely elveszítené a szoros kapcsolatot a tagokkal, sőt talán a tagságból is veszítene. Meglepődtem és végtelenül hálás vagyok, hogy elismerték a munkámat a Photo Review of Valued Past Members című cikkben, amelyben rólam is megemlékeztek a New Jerseyben végzett munkámért. Jól emlékszem, én adtam el az első és az utolsó 20 ezres Endowment kötvényt New Jerseyben. Szeretem olvasni Kathy Megyeri cikkeit, aki bár nem magyar származású, de megható, hogy milyen magyar szív dobog benne. Steve Vajda Ocala, FL Dear Editor, I wanted to write to the Editor last summer to let you know how perfectly Kathy Megyeri enumerated the most important things about life insurance in her article about Gábor Tőzsér. When someone reads it, they won’t even needfurther explanation about why it is important to be a member of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America. I have never read a better article on this topic. I really liked the article about Max and Wendy Teleki in the 2010 Spring issue. It showed that our Federation has famous members. In the last fall issue we read an article about Grandparents’ Day which was wonderful because this is the day that most people forget about. The Fraternity magazine is the only connection between the Federation and its members. Earlier, the Branch Managers personally collected the premiums from the members who were always looking forward to seeing us. That is how I developed a life-long friendship with Margit Rahill and her parents, and I still keep in touch with Margit and her family through the phone though I live in Florida now. Without the Fraternity, the Federation would lose the close connection to the members and could even lose the members themselves. I was surprised and honored to see that my work was mentioned in the article called “Photo Review of Valued Past Members. ” I was honored for my service in New Jersey where 1 sold the first and the last 20 thousand dollar Endowment Policy. I love reading the articles by Kathy Megyeri, who is not Hungarian, but a true Hungarian heart is beating in her. Steve Vajda Ocala, FL 1
