In concluding Izabella Youngmayer recited “Harci Dal.” The event was closed with a Benediction by Rev. Branch 250 — Woodbridge, NJ Youth Group Camp Report 2007 “Amazing Race to God” “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 3:14 Our church had the pleasure of sending many children to camp this year, two students who are currently in the Confirmation Class and five that were confirmed in the past. It was wonderful to learn about the Bible and experience fellowship with other Hungarian Reformed youth in the Calvin Synod and Hungarian Reformed Church of America. We sincerely thank the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America for its continuing support of our camp experience. The theme of camp this year, “Amazing Race to God,” addressed many aspects of our Christian life. On Monday we learned about the value of teaming up, finding the right people who encourage us and help us to live our lives following Christ’s example. On Tuesday we discussed about detours, making the right choice when you come to a crossroads or a major decision. Proverbs 3: 5-6 encourages us to, “Trust in the Lord with all your heard, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. ” Coping with roadblocks was the subject of Wednesday’s lesson, what to do when you experience failure. Psalm 37: 23-24 comforted us, saying “The steps of man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand. ” On Thursday we reflected on the “rest periods” that God gives us in our lives, to refresh ourselves and give us strength for what lies ahead. Finally, on Friday, we discussed perseverance and the gift of everlasting life in Jesus Christ. In addition to the inspiring speakers we heard each day, we also learned from Bible studies on coping with fear, avoiding idolatry, breaking free from bad habits and sin, and setting aside time in our busy lives each day to learn from the wisdom of the Bible.
