Since we are a tax-exempt fraternal organization, the amount of your contribution is deductible from your personal income taxes. Your generous donation allows many young members of the HRFA to partake in the wonderful opportunities higher education has to offer. As one of its many fraternal benefits, the HRFA offers a one-time financial assistance of $600 to our young members who are pursuing a college education. When approved, a check will be sent to the applicant. Heather Lea Battaglia, member of Branch 151: No one person can ever take more than they cannot handle. In other words, God never throws us anything that we cannot handle. That is my motto when walking across the stepping-stones of life. A large chapter of my life will be coming to an end in May 2007. Yet currently, I am a senior at Clarion University and a Rehabilitative Science major focusing on Gerontology as for now. This has been my goal to achieve since my sophomore year of High School. I am also a member of the women’s softball team, active in intramural basketball, and the president of Women’s United. When my schoolwork and extra curricular activities are few I work for Clarion County’s Promise as a tutor for local elementary students and do office work. In addition, I have a work-study job as a receptionist on campus. I am very proud of the lady 1 am and the woman I am becoming. Heather was recommended by Branch Manager Peggy Fabri member of Branch 22: The future is exciting and unpredictable. Education helps to shape the future of all children, which is the reason why I want to be an early childhood teacher. I have been blessed with the talent of communicating and understanding young children. Every child I come into contact with 1 am going to alter their lives in a positive manner and inspire them to fulfill all their dreams and potential. Teaching is a challenge, and very few people are given the ability to teach effectively, but I know I am one of those lucky few. I am working towards my goal, at Youngstown State University. This is my second year attending such a wonderful school dedicated to its education program. I have already learned so much about teaching and have been given the opportunity to work with interesting and diverse professors. During my college experience in the last two years I have had the chance to tutor young children, created lesson plans, and volunteered my time to teaching sixth grade students economics. Everyday all my hard work and effort brings me closer to being an effective teacher. I am also currently involved with children's ministry at my church. I minister to three and four year old children. Teaching them the word of God, and God's blessings has been extremely rewarding to me. The children continually inspire me to pursue my degree and allow me to have fun. They always have a way of putting a smile on my face and remind me of the many gifts God has given me. I know and I believe that with God's help I will achieve all my hopes and goals, by changing the lives of so many young learners. Kristen was recommended by Director John K. Morey Natalie Nagy, member of Branch 182: As a student at Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU), I am honored to be a member of the Hungarian Reformed Federation and a part of the Hungarian culture. From a young age, I have been enriched with the faith and support of my family and church community. The Hungarian Reformed Church was my first home, where 1 had the opportunity to experience fellow Hungarians and be able to communicate with them by being bilingual. As a child, I remember assisting with volunteer work, making famous Kristen Lynn DeZee, Fraternity - Testvériség / Summer 2007 25
