Page 14 TESTVÉRISÉG Operation Christmas Child The project was conducted in my neighborhood, as well as in the church. We were all happy to participate in this project as it is a great opportunity to touch the lives of needy children around the world. No matter where the boxes go, they will bring happiness to the hearts of children who have so much less than we can imagine. May God touch their lives with His love, comfort, and joy at this Christmas season. Commemorating the Revolution of 1956 in Hazelwood, Pennsylvania ... The commemoration of the Anniversary of the Revolution of 1956 was held at the Hungarian Club in Hazelwood, Pennsylvania, on October 26th. The hosts, Lajos Biro and Marie Csendes, welcomed the guests to this solemn event. The Rev. Ilona Komjáthy led the assembly in the singing of the American National anthem; Yvette Csendes played the violin; Director Joseph Fabri and Lajos Biro recited Hungarian poems; the Gyimesi children danced Hungarian dances; and Arpad Domos played Hungarian folk songs on the flute. The Rev. Sándor Jalso gave the closing prayer, and the event ended with the singing of the Hungarian National anthem. The Hungarian Reformed Federation of America and the William Penn Association sponsored this event. Special thanks to the Gyimesi children and to Yvette Csendes for their beautiful performances. We are proud of our young children who carry on our Hungarian heritage and we thank their parents for encouraging their participation. Thanks to the Hungarian American community for attending this special event and for continuing to support the Hungarian programs. ... and in McKeesport, Pennsylvania A large group of people attended a beautiful event at the McKeesport Hungarian Club. We thank the officers, Mike Szabó and Rose Gerzsenyi, for organizing this successful event. A Blessed Christmas and New Year to all our members and friends. Peggy Fabri, Branch Manager Tel: 724-843-6162 Serving God in Zimbabwe, Africa I am Michelle Lockwood. 1 am a mom of three children - Clay, age 5; Grace, age 3; and James, age 1. My family and I have been serving as missionaries in Zimbabwe, Africa, for the last three years. Zimbabwe is a country in the southern portion of Africa. It is a country full of beautiful people and beautiful landscape. The culture of the nationals is excessively social, kind, and patient. Zimbabwe has become our home. However, our hearts are breaking as we watch Zimbabwe plummet economically and politically. The country used to be the bread basket of all of southern Africa. Now, it cannot even feed itself. People are starving hourly. You cannot even buy the essentials like flour or sugar in the shops. The unemployment rate is over 75% and inflation is over 430%. People are literally living from meal to meal in desperation. To add to the problems, 35% of the population is HIV positive. It is one of the highest statistics of HIV in the world. One-half of the population is under the age of 15. Orphans are common, with traditional families being the minority. Yet, this is our home. We work with a group of men and women who are being trained to serve as Christian leaders. The students study at the Theological College of Zimbabwe. Many will become pastors, but some will choose other leadership careers like being a lawyer or a teacher or even a chaplain for the army. We feel this is the only hopeful future for our beloved nation of Zimbabwe. Without strong Godly leadership, a group of people, let alone a country, will soon fall into despair. We ask for your prayers for Zimbabwe that a Godly leadership would rise. Please pray for the masses who are suffering from lack of food and unbearable conditions. Please pray for the students at the Theological College of Zimbabwe that they would yearn to serve the Lord and search for His guidance. Finally, please pray for my family that we may continue to feel the Lord’s presence, that we may go about His business, and that He uses us to His fullest desires. May we each be obedient to the Lord’s call in our lives. Peggy Fabri with one of her helpers, Vicky Hutchinson. Guests at the Hungarian Club in Hazelwood.
