Page 20 TESTVÉRISÉG For lunch, we served “gulyás, hurka and kolbász” to our hard working team. The exciting moment, though, was when the people started arriving to pick up their orders which they had previously placed with us. Needless to say, everyone came to pick up their favorite Hungarian goodies. We wish to express our gratitude to our “old timers and experts”: Ernie Vargo, Alex Varady, Ed Kovács, Andy Csornán, Joe Fabri, Frankie Szabó and Earl Couch, as well as to all those who helped make this a very successful fund raising event. What a wonderful opportunity it was to be able to promote the fraternal side of the HRFA! The “1956 Singers” and the Scouts sang Kossuth songs accompanied by an enthusiastic crowd. A reception followed which gave us the opportunity to socialize with old friends and acquaint ourselves with new people. Much appreciation to a hardworking team. March 15 Remembered The 154th Commemoration of the Hungarian War of Independence was celebrated at the McKeesport Hungarian Social Club on Sunday, March 17, 2002. Despite the financial difficulties of the Club, it was freshly painted and beautifully decorated for the occasion. We congratulate the Club’s leadership, President Miklós Szabó, Vice President Peter Shurina, and Treasurer Rose Gerzsenyi, and other members for putting together a beautiful program. The Rev. Alexander Jalso gave the invocation; Mark Gergely gave the address in English; poems were recited by Joseph Fabri - “Nemzeti Dal,” Eva Mees - “Világosságot!” and Sándor Daroczy - a poem by Janos Arany. Tina Yakich put together a presentation of Hungarian costumes. The Hungarian address was by Gabriel Pellathy, and the benediction, which concluded the program, was by the Rev. Imre A. Bertalan. A display of beautiful Hungarian folklore costumes. Welcome New Member Max Robert, bom June 26, 2002, is the son of Marc and Mary Jane Gowland.
