FRATERNITY Page 21 Branch 227 - Warren, Ohio At the annual meeting of our branch held on March 3, 2002, we elected: William A. Nicholas, President/Vice President; and Marge S. We are very grateful that our branch is actively involved in benevolent activities such as: visitation of shut- ins; collection of food for needy families; helping at Bible School for children of the church; coordinating the shoe box program for children of Third World countries; and raising funds for the church. Happy 50,h Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Alex Kiss of Warren recently celebrated their 50th anniversary with family and friends at the Golden Gate Restaurant. The celebration was hosted by the couple’s two daughters Mrs. Mark (Liz) Bahrey of Lordstown and Judy Kiss of Champion. The couple also has one granddaughter, Gábriellé, and one grandson, Mark. Mr. and Mrs. Kiss have been owners of Alex Cycle Shop Inc. in Warren since 1965. They are members of our branch, as well as of the Covenant United Presbyterian Church. Mr. Kiss served in World War II and took part in the Hungarian Revolution. We wish the couple all our very best for a blessed married life. Marge Nicholas, Branch Manager Tel: 330-372-5183 Branch 300 - Washington, D.C. The annual Mother’s Day picnic of Branch 300 was celebrated at Camp Olympic on Sunday, May 12, 2002. After many days of unusually cool weather, the sun came out to celebrate with us on this special day in the life of our branch. Each year the program seems to be the same; however, it is the mix of the people that always makes it somewhat different. The day started with an outdoor worship service, followed by a presentation by the Hungarian Scouts of Washington, D.C. in honor of all the mothers. This is the last time that Kristina Szekely will be leading the group, since she and her family are leaving for England for a few years. We wish them Godspeed. The Scouts and the Hungarian community will surely miss her and her family. L. to r.: Ten Pflum, Branch Manager, and Iren Vallario, Branch Treasurer, enjoying fellowship. The menu, which consisted of delicious Hungarian specialties, was prepared by and donated to us by László Baranyi and his wife, Kati. We are very indebted to them for their selfless spirit of goodwill and generosity. We honored our hosts, Stephen and Elizabeth Benedek, as well as Dr. Paul and Agnes Harsanyi, for their 25 years of membership with the HRFA. We are very grateful for their loyalty and friendship to the Federation.
