FRATERNITY Page 3 WILLIAM BÉLA PUSKAS, JR., NEW CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER OF THE HRFA “I believe that the basic goals and objectives of our founding fathers remain as valid today as at our birth, and that we need to re-dedicate ourselves to meeting those goals and objectives. ” The Board of Directors of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America is pleased to announce that it has retained William Béla Puskas, Jr. to serve as the Chief Financial Officer of the HRFA, commencing August 1, 2001 . Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Mr. Puskas graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth College and received his law degree from Boston University School of Law. He has been a practicing attorney in the New Brunswick area for the past 25 years. Since 1977, Mr. Puskas has also served as a Municipal Judge in Franklin Township, New Jersey, where he resides with his wife, Linda, and their daughter, Katherine. Mr. Puskas, who answers equally well to “Bill” or “Béla”, has been a member of the HRFA since his youth. He attended all HRFA Conventions from 1976 through 1992 as either a Delegate or Convention Secretary. At the 1992 Convention, Bill was elected to the HRFA Board of Directors as a Director from the New Jersey District. In 1994, Bill was appointed by the Board to serve as Legal Counselor to the HRFA. Bill notes, “I am deeply honored and proud to have been chosen for this position of leadership and responsibility in an organization which has been so close to my heart for many years. I look forward to helping to reinvigorate the HRFA in all aspects. I hope to be able to integrate updated business methods and technology into the organization to attract new members and to better service our present members. However, I am also mindful and respectful of the history and traditions our organization has developed over the past 105 years. I believe that the basic goals and objectives of our founding fathers remain as valid today as at our birth, and that we need to re-dedicate ourselves to meeting those goals and objectives. “No individual attains any level of success or achievement without the help and support of many others. I was genuinely excited by the enthusiasm and level of concern for the HRFA among the Delegates at our 2000 Convention in Toledo, Ohio. I want to help to harness that enthusiasm and concern and apply it to the growth and betterment of our society. I am counting on the help and good will of all members of the HRFA to help me succeed in these endeavors. I want to hear your ideas and thoughts, both positive and negative, regarding the future direction of the HRFA. I can’t overemphasize how much I value your input and concern, and I pledge to be available to hear them and give them the consideration they deserve. The HRFA belongs to each of us, and to all of us. “There is a lot of hard work ahead of us, and I am ready to roll up my sleeves and dig in. I ask all of you to join wholeheartedly in these efforts. I also ask for your guidance, support and prayers, for me and the HRFA. May God continue to bless the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America.” William Béla Puskas, Jr. being sworn into his new position by President George Dózsa in the presence of the Home Office staff.
