BALOG Member of Br. 313 “I would like to thank the HRFA for the scholarship awarded to me through the Student Aid Fund. The financial assistance will be used to complete my education at Mason Gross School of the Arts- Rutgers University. I also thank Ms. Priscilla Hunyady, V.P., Board of Directors and Manager of Branch 313, for recommending me for the scholarship.” WILLIAM S. BENKO Member of Br. 369 “I am a permanent resident of Great Neck, NY and a temporary resident of Budapest. I graduated with a B.A. in English and a Spanish minor from the University of Rochester, NY in 1993. The fall of the same year, after passing the entrance exam in Yonkers, I began my six-year medical education at Semmelweis University of Medicine in Budapest. WILLIAM S. BENKO Although I had been in Hungary at least five times before 1993, it has been this experience that has allowed me, with pride, to integrate myself into the society of my father’s heritage. Medical school, with a doubt, is a full-time job. The interest and love of this art provides me with the strength, motivation, and encouragement to proceed onwards. This spring I participated in the late Dr. Balint Mihály’s "Bahnt Group,” which was based on the improvement of the doctor-patient relationship. Incorporating the Balint method, I wrote an essay in English about one of my patient experiences and entered it into the International Balint Competition. My essay placed third. I received an award plus an all-expense paid three-day trip to Ascona, Switzerland. I am now in the fourth year, will graduate in 1999, and then hope to begin a residency program back in the U.S. I thank my father, László Benko, for informing me about this available scholarship, Dr. Otto Hamos for sponsoring me, and the HRFA for awarding me the scholarship.” DAWN MARIE NEMETH BRZOZOWSKI Member of Br. 501 “I would like to express my sincere thanks to the HRFA and especially to Mrs. Margaret Pauli for recommending me for the Student Aid benefit of the HRFA. The scholarship is greatly appreciated and will certainly help offset some of my educational expenses. I graduated with honors from Rutgers University, New Brunswick in 1996 with a BA in Psychology. While attending Rutgers, I was inducted as a member of the Golden Essential National Honor Society, and Pi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology. I was also named as a Dean’s List Scholar and am a member of the Rutgers chapter of Alpha Chi Omega national sorority. For the past year, I have attended Kean University in Union, NJ, working towards an MA degree and state licensure as a School Psychologist. I am currently employed as a Graduate Assistant at the Institute of Child Study at Kean University. As a career goal, I would like to be employed as part of a Child DAWN MARIE NEMETH BRZOZOWSKI
