Agnes Hajdú, Branch Manager BRANCH 227 - WARREN, OHIO Our branch held its annual meeting on May 17, 1998 at the Nicholas residence. It was opened by prayer by William A. Nicholas. During the meeting old business was discussed, and new business raised, such as our branch’s plans to host a “Hungarian Day” to be held at our Church during the fall. (For information call: William A. Nicholas at 330-372-5183). Officers elected for 1998 are: William A. Nicholas, Presi­dent and Vice President and Margaret Nicholas, Secretary- Treasurer. Backus (Schubert), Secretary. Joseph Berei, Branch Manager BRANCH 250 - WOODBRIDGE, NEW JERSEY The Branch 250 meeting was convened by Branch Presi­dent Joseph S. Gyenes on February 5, 1998 in the office of the Hungarian Reformed Church. In addition to the officers, Margaret Pauli and the HRFA Director Michael Pauli, Jr. were present. The meeting began with a prayer by the Rev. Albert W. Kovács. The minutes of the previous meeting were re­viewed and corrected. The Treasurer reported an opening balance of $64.20, expenses for the Mother’s Day flowers of $47.65 and a closing balance of $16.55. Reports: Mr. & Mrs. Steven Kovach will celebrate their 50th anniversary on August 21, 1998. President Gyenes and Director Pauli reported on the annual district picnic in Matawan last year, held jointly with the St. George branch of the HRFA. All officers attended, as did other members, several partici­pating in the event in various duties. Election results: Joseph S. Gyenes, President; Margaret Kovach, Vice President; Rev. Albert W. Kovács, Secretary; Steven Kovach, Treasurer. New Business: 1) It was proposed to organize a new Hungarian Heritage group under the local chapters to meet monthly on a rotating basis in the several Hungarian churches in the Perth Amboy, Woodbridge, Carteret area. The officers will make the necessary contacts and inquiries. 2) It was agreed to host an after-worship brunch, Breaking Bread, at the church, pending a suitable date. 3) It was agreed to spon­sor a monthly drive for canned and packaged goods, in the church, to be sent to local food banks. This would also give the chapter publicity in the church to attract more members into benevolent work and possible news coverage as well. The meeting was adjourned and concluded with a prayer offered by the Pastor. Rev. Albert W. Kovács, Branch Secretary BRANCH 269 ­PERTH AMBOY, NEW JERSEY The annual meeting of our branch was held on January 11, 1998. Officers elected for 1998 were: Bishop Francis Vitéz, President; Rev. Bela Poznan, Vice President; Mrs. Francis Vitéz, Secretary. Branch Manager Mrs. Francis Vitéz wishes to thank all who supported the 50th anniversary of Bishop Vitéz at his ordination at the luncheon held in September 1997. Mrs. Francis Vitéz, Branch Manager BRANCH 300 - WASHINGTON, D.C. We extend a warm welcome to the youngest member of our branch Brenna Elizabeth Ebner bom December 7,1997. Brenna is the youngest child of Steven and Amy Ebner and the youngest grandchild of Francesca Ebner, widow of Stephen Ebner, past President of Branch 300 and longtime member of the Federation. Little Brenna is also the youngest great-grandchild of Mrs. Elizabeth Ebner, mother of the late Stephen Ebner, who has a total of 39 grandchildren. Brenna Elizabeth Ebner
