Six members of the HRFA in good standing signed their names on the voting list, thus establishing the required quorum. In addition, five guests were also present. Branch Manager, Margaret H. Saltzer, explained the voting procedure. Elected were: Rev. Eugene Katona, delegate; Violette Katona, first alternate delegate; Irene Tosaky, second alternate delegate. (This segment of the meeting was conducted in English, the remainder in Hungarian.) The regular meeting opened with a prayer and a brief meditation by the President of the Branch 378, the Rev. Eugene Katona. Mrs. Katona, Branch Secretary, spoke briefly about the special celebrations this year, namely, the 100th anniversary of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America and the 1100th anniversary of the founding of Hungary. It was suggested that the HRFA should be officially included and represented by the branch manager at the commemorative program to be held at the Hungarian Reformed Church in San Francisco on June 9, 1996, where there will also be an exhibit of Hungarian paintings and books. Mrs. Saltzer introduced and showed a video film entitled, “Hungarian Reformed Church Life in Hungary,” which was enjoyed by all present. After reviewing the film, it was suggested the study of Hungarian history and literature be encouraged within Hungarian Scout groups with special competitions. All persons present commended both the Branch President and the Branch Manager upon an interesting and useful meeting. Refreshments in the form of a lovely buffet table were provided by the Rev. and Mrs. Eugene Katona. The meeting was closed with a prayer and blessing by the Reverend Katona. Margaret H.
