FRATERNITY Page 29 BRANCH 203 - RANKIN, PA At our special meeting held at the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Pittsburgh, April 21, 1996, 1:00 P.M., we elected Bertalan Oláh, Sr., delegate to the 35th Convention of the HRFA. No alternate was elected. Bertalan Oláh, Sr., Branch Manager & Secretary BRANCH 207 ■ HOOVERSVILLE, PA Branch 207 held its special meeting at the home of former Branch Manager, Charles Chasar, Stoystown, Pennsylvania, May 4, 1996, 5:00 P.M. Elected were: Rev. Joseph Posta, delegate; Ilona Posta, alternate delegate. Rev. Joseph Posta, Branch Manager BRANCH 227 - WARREN, OH On May 19, 1996, Branch 227 of Warren, Ohio, celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America at the Covenant Presbyterian Church. Elder Joseph Nagy conducted the Hungarian service accompanied by Barbara Sember, who also sang a beautiful solo. Barb is the church organist and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Nagy. The program continued in the fellowship hall with dinner. Branch President Bill Nicholas presented a fifty-year anniversary pin of the Federation to Elizabeth Nagy, and a baby book to the three-month-old Zoe V. Sárkány, youngest member of the branch. Fellowship of Branch 227 continued in the church hall, which was decorated in the Hungarian theme. The delegate election meeting was also held on the same day and same location. The purpose was to elect one delegate and two alternate delegates. Elected were: Margaret Nicholas, delegate; William A. Nicholas, first alternate; Victoria M. Lytle, second alternate. The meeting adjourned with a closing prayer. Marge Nicholas, Manager Branch 227 BRANCH 235 - PITTSBURGH, PA Branch Manager Kati Csornán opened the delegate election meeting held at the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Pittsburgh, Sunday, May 26, 1996, with a prayer. This was the second meeting since the quorum was not met at the first meeting held at the church Sunday, May 19, 1996. Elected were: Kati Csornán, delegate; Joseph Király, alternate. Discussions followed concerning a branch resolution to be presented to the board and plans for a picnic in June to which members of the Magyar Kor at the University of Pittsburgh would be invited. The meeting was closed with a prayer by Emil Nagengast. Congratulations to Emil Nagengast, Ph.D. Emil Nagengast, a new member of our branch, earned a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Pittsburgh. His four brothers and two sisters and their families, his mother Caroline, and other relatives came from across the country to celebrate his graduation in April. Besides writing his dissertation and teaching courses in the Political Science Department at the university for the past two years, Emil has been a full-time “Mr. Mom” since the birth of his son, Otto. Emil has accepted a position as Assistant Professor at Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, and will be teaching courses in the Department of Political Science beginning this fall. Emil is the son-in-law of Secretary Endre Csornán and his wife Arlene, and the husband of Kati Csornán. Kati Csornán, Branch Manager BRANCH 245 - McKESSPORT, PA A special meeting of Branch 245 was postponed from May 5, 1996, as published in the Fraternity, to May 25, 1996 because of the illness of branch manager Joseph Berei. An ad was placed in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette to inform all members of this change. However, a quorum was not present on May 25, and the meeting was held on June 1, 1996 at the residence of Joseph Berei in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The meeting was called to order at 3:30 P.M. by Goldie Szarka who welcomed all present. An opening prayer was offered by Tammy Jo Szarka. There followed a discussion on the election of one delegate and two alternates to attend the convention in September 1996.
