At the end of the meeting, all members were invited by Mr. Berei to stay for a bacon fry, kolbász and Hungarian goulash. Tammy Jo Szarka, Branch Secretary McKeesport native Tammy Jo Szarka has been named manager-governmental affairs for Metropolitan Edison Co./ Pennsylvania Electric Company. In this position, she will be based in Harrisburg and will represent the company’s position on legislative matters affecting the electric industry and its customers before legislators and agencies. Tammy graduated from McKeesport Area High School and Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor of science degree in accounting. She also attended the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh. A resident of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, she is a member of Women in Pennsylvania Government Relations. McKeesport native Elizabeth (Szarka) Montgomery has joined the staff of the Legislative Budget Board of the Equity Center in Austin, Texas, as director of communications. Graduated from McKeesport Area High School, she holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science and business from Penn State University and has 10 years experience in data processing operations and management. In addition to her communications duties, she will serve as liaison to the Texas House of Representatives and other education associations. She is a volunteer tutor with the Travis County Adult Literacy Council, where she teaches basic literacy and English as a second language. Tammy and Elizabeth are the daughters of Joseph and Goldie Szarka of White Oak, Pennsylvania. Both young women are members of our branch, and their mother, Goldie, is our Branch President. Congratulations to Tammy and Elizabeth on their well-deserved and successful careers. Joseph Berei, Branch Manager BRANCH 250 - WOODBRIDGE, NJ The seven adult voting members present signed the official adult voting list. Also present was Michael Pauli Jr., Director and Official Observer, and Margaret Pauli Branch Manager. President Gyenes reviewed the order of business to be conducted, namely the election of a delegate and two alternates to the 35th convention to be held in September. In addition, recommendations for amendments to the By- Laws and branch resolutions would also be considered. Elected were: Steven Kovach, delegate; Gregory Gyenes, alternate. Discussion was held concerning possible joint activities with Branch 501, St. George District, in addition to the Maria Poes Fellowship Day event. President Gyenes asked Rev. Kovács to close the meeting with a prayer at 2:55 P.M. Rev. Albert Kovács, Secretary Mothers attending Mother’s Day Worship Services at the Hungarian Reformed Church in Woodbridge, New Jersey, were presented with a rose, compliments of Branch 250. Carrying out the program was Margaret Kovach and Eleanor Whartenby, daughters of longtime past Branch Secretary Albert Varga. Also lending assistance were Erin and Holly Bonner, granddaughters of Rev. and Mrs. Albert Kovács, and Rachael LaPore, granddaughter of Eleanor Whartenby. Sunday, May 19th, the Branch sponsored the Church “Breaking of Bread Brunch,” held at the church auditorium after Worship Service. Pastor Kovács gave a brief history of the Federation and its relation to the churches. He also said that the Federation was celebrating its 100th anniversary in September. Director Michael Pauli and his wife Margaret attended the Worship Service and brunch. Margaret Pauli, Branch Manager Delegate election meeting of Branch 250, Woodbridge, New Jersey, called for May 4, 1996 at 2:00 P.M. did not draw a quorum. Follow-up meeting of Saturday, May 11, 1996 was called to order at 2:00 P.M. by Branch President Joseph S. Gyenes. Branch Secretary Rev. Albert Kovács led the group in prayer. Branch 250 donated the roses for Mother’s Day.
