Virgulák, Treasurer, Opening Speaker at the Chesapeake State Fraternal Congress. The Chesapeake State Fraternal Congress held its 88th Annual Session on April 19 and 20, 1996 at the Holiday Inn, College Park, Maryland. The theme for this meeting was “Expanding Our Horizons,” and the presenters spoke on the following topics: Expanding Our Knowledge; Identity; Commitment; Perspective; Involvement and Our Dedication. The annual meeting opened Friday evening with dinner, two speakers and a short business session. The greetings from our national organization were brought by David J. Brummond, NFCA General Counsel. Treasurer Suzanne S. Virgulák had the distinct honor of being the dinner speaker, opening with the “Expanding Our Horizons” theme. The HRFA is the only fraternal society domiciled in Washington, D.C., and the area of this state congress. Her presentation focused on the 100-year history of the Federation, and how we “expanded our horizons” from our humble beginnings in 1896 to our present status in the Nation’s Capital. Special emphasis was given to the many and varied fraternal activities of the HRFA. The participants were pleased to receive copies of our Fraternity magazine, No. 4, 1995, which contains a brief article and photo of the CSFC Executive Committee meeting held at the Kossuth House on July 22, 1995. The state congress acknowledged the participation of the Federation in their meetings and various fraternal events. Suzanne S. Virgulák, Treasurer
