FRATERNITY Page 3 PRESIDENT'S CORNER Your Vote Counts! THE BEST WAY TO PROMOTE FRATERNAL ACTIVITIES IS TO GET INVOLVED! It is election time at the Federation! By the time the Fraternity reaches our readers, each member of the HRFA will have been notified by his branch manager or area director to attend the annual meeting in December, 1995, of the branch to which he belongs. It is at that meeting that officers of the individual branches are elected for the coming year. Any member in goodstanding, age 16 and over, can participate in the election of his local branch officers, i.e., president, vice president, secretary and treasurer or secretary/treasurer, and comptroller, who will then conduct the affairs of the branch for the coming year. The responsibility of the elected officers will be to transact the business of the branch. They will call meetings at which members can discuss the programs and activities they wish to conduct throughout the year. Branch activities allow the Federation members to learn new things, to help others through fund-raising and work projects, to recognize people for their accomplishments and to get together for recreation. The best way to promote fraternal activities is to get involved. Branch participation is a great way to gain the support of other concerned and caring individuals - your fellow branch members - and help make a difference for others in the community. The annual meeting in December will have also served the purpose of setting the date, time and place for the delegate election meeting for the 35th Quadrennial Convention of the Federation. According to our By-Laws, the delegate election meeting must be held during the months of April and May, 1996. These meetings are very important for the following reasons: ♦ You will be electing your delegate or delegates to the 35th Quadrennial Convention of the Federation, who in turn will elect the new leadership - Board of Directors and National Officers - for the next four years. ♦ At the delegate election meeting, you, as a member of the Federation, can make recommendations to the Convention as long as that they are not in conflict with any state or Federal laws that pertain to fraternal life insurance. Since the Convention of 1996 is in conjunction with the 100th Anniversary Celebration of the Federation, the opening ceremonies will take place in Trenton, New Jersey, the birthplace of the Federation, on Sunday, September 15, 1996. The Convention itself will be held in New Brunswick, New Jersey on September 16-20, 1996. Details of the 100th Anniversary Celebrations and the Convention will be announced in the Fraternity in due time. Please carefully read the 1 st issue of the Fraternity, 1996, since that issue will list the time, place, location, and all other important information in connection with the delegate election meeting. George Dózsa, President
