Page 30 TESTVÉRISÉG STUDENT AID In this section of our Fraternity, we are happy to share with our readers some of the letters we receive from the recipients of the Student Aid. We hope that you will take as much pride and joy as we do in reading about the academic achievements of these gifted young people and their extra curricular activities which they pursue with dedication and idealism. We thank our Branch Managers for their assistance in helping our young members become aware of this benefit. STEPHEN AD AY, Member of Br. 402 “Thank you very much for the student aid. It helped me out a great deal. I graduated this May from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. I majored in Economics and Geography and completed a minor in French. I have applied to the afterdegree teacher’s certification program where I will be trained to become a high school teacher. In the future I would like to teach in Hungary for one or two years.” Stephen Aday is the son of Rev. Dr. Louis Aday, Branch Manager NICHOLAS ALEXANDER BADO, Member of Br. 50 “I want to express my appreciation to the HRFA for the Student Aid Benefit you have given me and also to Mrs. Elvira Petry, Branch Manager, for recommending me. It is very much appreciated. Knowing that your organization helps students in this way is very encouraging. Just to let you know a little about myself: I attend Buffalo State College as a full-time student with Criminal Justice as my major. Law enforcement has interested me for quite some time, and now that I am learning about the profession in depth, my interest is growing. When I’m not attending classes or studying, I work part-time in security at a local department store. I felt this job would tie in with my studies and give me valuable experience. A regular routine of lifting weights and bodybuilding is something I do to keep in good physical shape, which I feel is very important for the profession I have chosen as well as for anyone who wants a healthier body. And I hope this doesn’t sound like bragging, but several years ago I won a trophy for first place in a teenage bodybuilding contest. My goal for the future is to take my place somewhere in the criminal justice profession. It is a field with many opportunities. Whether it be as a police officer, an FBI agent, in the courts, or elsewhere, I will serve my community and my country with pride in a worthwhile profession that really makes a difference. Thank you again for helping me towards my goal.” Nicholas was recommended by Director Elvira Petry, Manager of Branch 50 REV. PETER PAL BODOR, Member of Br. 370 “The generous grant of the HRFA has helped me pay for my school related costs. Thank you very much! My future plans are to stay in the ministry; however, my present bilingual Hungarian Reformed congregation of Flint, Michigan, is not growing any more due to the regional G.M. plant closing and economic hardship. The Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Science, which I received in March of 1992, is a backup plan so, besides ministry, I can work in the secular field. In the future, this is the only way to serve a smaller congregation and earn a living from an engineering related secular job. I pray that God will grant me Paul’s humbleness and wisdom, he was a tent maker and earned his own living, so I can serve the American Hungarians. Mély tisztelettel és hálás köszönettel.”
