FRATERNITY Page 31 AMY-JO CLARK, Member of Br. 31 “What a pleasant surprise I had when I came home from college. I received the news of the special gift from the HRFA. I extend my deepest appreciation for this financial contribution which will be put towards my tuition payment and help me with my financial status as college costs are on the rise. I so enjoy working with the little children and therefore am a student in the early childhood education program. I wish to extend a large thank you to Mrs. Emma Aros as she guided and recommended me for this prestigious award. I am very proud of my Hungarian heritage, and the day I was chosen as a Hungarian Princess to represent our nationality in the Lorain International Festival will always remain special to me. As I attend Lorain County Community College working towards my degree, I will remember your generosity and the support I have also received from my family and church.” Amy-Jo was recommended by Emma Aros, Branch Manager ANDREW G. KOVÁCS, Member Br. 402 “I wish thank the HRFA for the donation which your organization has granted me for the continuance of my scholarly endeavor. I assure you that it has been a great pleasure to be the recipient of your gracious generosity. It is always very gratifying to know that my diligent studies have not gone unnoticed. On June 5, 1992, the degree of B.A. with First Class Honors in Music was conferred on me at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario. As I am also pursuing a degree in French, I would like to add that I was the recipient of the book prize donated by the Swiss Embassy in Ottawa this year. This non-monetary award is presented to the student majoring in French with the highest average. As of October 1, I will be studying, as a full-time student, at the Université de Perpignan in the south of France. The academic year 1992-93 will be the last year of my undergraduate studies in French. In June of 1993 I will receive a B.A. Honors Degree in French. In October of 1993 I plan to start working on a Masters Degree in French at the Université de Perpignan, or at the Sorbonne. In September of 1994 I plan to start working on a doctorate in French at the University of Toronto. My eventual goal is to become a university professor of the French language. r a For the past five years, I have been the organist at the Hungarian Presbyterian Church in Welland. In addition, I spent many years at the Hungarian School, and was a member of the Welland Hungarian dance-group until my studies no longer permitted me to participate in these activities. Once again, your generosity is gratefully acknowledged.” Andrew was recommended by Rev.Dr. Louis K. Aday, Branch Manager JULIA PALOTAY, Member of Br. 259 “1972. január 14-én születtem, Márti húgomat három perccel megelőzve. Életemben egyszer költöztem, akkor is majdnem városon belül, de mégis két hazám van. Egyik szülővárosom környéke, ami nagyjából Los Angeles-el egyezik. Másik szüleim szülővárosa: Balassagyarmat. Amikor még féláron repülhettünk testvéremmel, gyakran ott töltöttem a nyarat nagyanyámmal, nagynénéimmel és unokatestvéreimmel. Húsz év alatt összesen tízszer jártam Magyarországon. Ahogy Magyarország a második hazám, úgy a San Fernando Völgyi Magyar Református Egyház a második otthonom. Onnan hétvégén sokszor csak aludni jártunk haza. Sőt, havonta egyszer éveken keresztül ott is aludtunk, mert az úgynevezett gyereknap tulajdonképpen kétnapos volt. (Szombaton magyar iskola, vasárnap pedig vasárnapi iskola volt.) Amikor nem gyereknappal telt a hétvége, akkor cserkészetre mentünk, Édesanyám először négyéves
