FRATERNITY Page 33 Student Aid We thank our Area Directors and Branch Managers for their assistance in helping our young members become aware of our Student Aid Fund which is intended to financially assist students in their pursuit of a college degree. BRAD ARLETT, Member of Branch 302 Brad is the son of Yolan Arlett and the late Dr. Robert Arlett. Brad received the student aid award of the HRFA toward his education at Cornell University, where he is a sophomore majoring in chemical engineering. Brad attended Community Park School, John Witherspoon Middle School and was graduated from The Hun School in 1990 with Headmaster's Highest Honors for three years. His grandmother, Emma Varga Grund, is a longtime member of Branch 302. Brad was recommended by Branch Manager Julianna Tompa STEVEN M. BRANCATO, Member of Branch 52 "I am currently a senior at Boston University. I am graduating in three years instead of four because I received credit for Advanced Placement courses which I took in high school. My undergraduate major is International Relations with a focus in international economics and business. In the future I hope to become a lawyer, and I am interested in the field of corporate law. I have participated in many activities at Boston University. I have been a representative in the West Campus Student Government, College of Liberal Arts Forum and Local Students Union. In addition, I have participated in the Ski Association, a student leadership development class and the regional conference for the Association of College Unions- Intemational. I have also worked part-time during my years at Boston University. In my first year, I worked as a staff member for the student center. In my second year, I worked as a student center manager. In my last year, I have been working as an activities assistant in the Student Activities Office. This last job entails advising the student government of the largest residence hall on the campus. I will continue to work at this job during the upcoming spring semester. I would like to thank you for the check I received from the Student Aid Benefit. I greatly appreciate it." Steven was recommended by Suzanne S. Virgulák Vice President, Board of Directors KEVIN J. FARKAS, Member of Branch 151 "I must say, the Student Aid Benefit that I recently received from the HRFA is quite a generous gift. I am grateful to Mr. Endre Csornán for recommending me for the award, and I especially thank my parents Paul and Hazel Farkas of Beaver Falls, PA for encouraging me to apply. The gift you and the HRFA kindly accorded me will help me reach a very important and special dream - that being the first in my family to graduate from college. But beyond merely attaining a diploma, my erudition will help me become a free thinking, productive American citizen. As you must know, education is a very valuable, special, and irrevocable life-long asset. I am pleased that the HRFA is actively involved in not just making my dream a reality, but also promoting the superlative ideal of education and the amelioration of the mind. Plato once wrote, 'The excellence of thought, it seems, is certainly of a more divine quality, a thing that never loses its potency.'
