Page 18 TESTVÉRISÉG April 1989. Further, the branch took part in the annual picnic on August 13, 1989 with branches 62, 84 & 176 in Merriville, Ind. We combined our annual Christmas Party with our election and meeting on December 2, 1989. Two of our out of state members also attended — Kimberly Tkacz Gustafson (granddaughter of the Modory's, who attended her wedding on September 2, 1989 in San Antonio, Texas) and Janice Enlow. The results of the election for 1990-officers are: Charles Modory, President; Dorothy Batiz, Vice President; Mary Jane Simon, Treasurer; Helen K. Modory, Secretary and Branch Manager. The next meeting is scheduled for April 1990 when plans for the year's activities will be discussed. Helen K. Modory, Secretary/Branch Manager BRANCH 22—YOUNGSTOWN, OH The election of our 1990 officers was held at our January 21, 1990 meeting. Motion was made, seconded and passed to retain all previous officers of last year: Stephen J. Szabó III, President; John K. Morey, Vice President; Patricia M. Morey, Secretary-Treasurer. It was noted that effective January 1, 1990 Branch 22 will have a new Branch Manager. John K. Morey, who is now a director of the HRFA in Ohio, will transfer the branch to his wife, Patricia. Mr. Morey also noted that now that the merger with the St. George Society is completed, it would be nice to have the two local branches get together. Mr. Morey would contact the St. George Branch Manager to try to make arrangements. The Winter Festival was held on Sunday, February 18, 1990. Details in our next issue. Patricia M. Morey, Secretary-Treasurer/Branch Manager BRANCH 31-LORAIN, OH The annual meeting was held on January 28, 1990 at 2:30 p.m. The presiding officer was Roberta Aros and the opening prayer was by Teresa Simone. Report was given by William Aros in regards to a meeting held in Cleveland, Ohio, in reference to the Bethlen Home of Ohio. This was followed by the Secretary who reported that seven members passed away in 1989 and eight new members enrolled. Memorial gifts were sent to the Bethlen Home, the Hungarian Reformed Church, the St. Ladislaus Church and the Hospice Unit of St. Joseph Hospital. Visitations to local nursing homes and contributions to Food for the Needy are monthly projects of the officers. Officers for 1990 were elected: Roberta Aros, President; Teresa Simone, Vice President; Emma Aros, Secretary-Treasurer. The meeting was adjourned at 3:45 p.m. with a closing prayer by Roberta Aros. Emma Aros, Secretary/Branch Manager BRANCH 35-DETROIT, Ml Meeting was held on January 14,1990, at the branch office in Lincoln Park, Michigan, for the election of officers for 1990. The meeting was called to order at 2:15 p.m. by President Samuel Vespremi. He welcomed the members and guests that attended. Total of 13 were present. President called upon Rev. Imre Bertalan for the opening prayer. Roll call of officers was read by the secretary, vice president was absent and auditor was excused on account of illnes. President called upon Branch Manager, Mrs. Ethel Teghze, to read the names of the deceased members and a minute of silent prayer followed. May God grant 1990—Officers them eternal rest and peace. President also mentioned that he was notified that Mrs. Ilona Asboth, widow of the late Rev. Julius Asboth, who was a pastor for the Hungarian Lutheran Church in Detroit, passed away at the Bethlen Home in Ligonier, PA. Secretary's and treasurer's reports were read and accepted — balance in treasury to be used for further expenses if needed. President reported under old business that the delegates were notified about St. George Catholic Union merging. The secretary stated that news regarding donations and the attendance of officers and members of Branch 35 at different functions were being sent to the National Secretary. Letter received from Rev. Zoltán Kovács thanking Branch 35 for a kind donation toward the Building Fund of the Bethlen Museum & Archives was read. The election of branch officers followed.
