FRATERNITY Page 5 NEW VICE PRESIDENT-SECRETARY ELECTED It is my privilege to introduce to our members the new Vice President-Secretary of the HRFA, George Dózsa, whom I have known for many years when working together with him in church and community matters in New Brunswick, NJ. Before coming to work for the Federation, George spent 29 years in the environmental business, dealing with water, waste water and air pollution. As manager of an environmental lab, he worked with State and Federal Regulatory Agencies, where he gained experience and an inside "know-how" of their operations. Since his major responsibility now is the supervision of the Underwriting Department, this past experience is proving to be useful in the daily operation of his office. Much of his adult life was spent as a volunteer, caring for people and institutions alike. For example, he served as Chief Elder of the Magyar Reformed Church, was appointed Commissioner of the Housing and Urban Development Authority, became Vice President of the Hungarian Civic Association, served on the Planning Board in the City of New Brunswick. He is a member of the Development Council of the American Hungarian Foundation. In his new position of leadership, he shares the ideals and goals that are dear to the fraternal movement of the Federation, Church and community. I am sure that he will represent the interests of all members of the Federation with the ability, strength and dedication that the Lord has given him. A hearty welcome to George. Imre Bertalan, President PENNSYLVANIA NEWS The second ecumenical service was held on December 20, 1988 at 5:30 p.m. in the Hungarian Presbyterian Church in Beaver Falls, PA. The event was sponsored by the William Penn Association and the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America. The church service was conducted by Rev. Nicholas Novak of the Pittsburgh Reformed Church. Father Paul Bolvary of St. Ann's Church, Hazelwood, presented the ceremony in Hungarian, while Rev. Dr. Imre Bertalan, President of the HRFA, made an inspiring Christmas speech in English. Organist during the service was Wendy Peclet from the Duquesne Reformed Church. This beautiful service was very gratefully received by more than 100 participants and made everyone feel blessed to have participated at this unique Hungarian event. After the closing service, all congregated at the Holy Trinity Church Hall where a luncheon, prepared by Arlene and Nadine Csornán, was served. Rev. Louis Illés from the Duquesne Church gave the invocation and Paul Farkas, President of Branch 151, greeted the Wendy Peclet — Photo Utes guests and introduced those that traveled far to come to this event. Rev. Bertalan and his wife Margaret from Washington, D.C. graciously excused themselves as they had to start on their long journey home. Mr. Farkas introduced the representatives of the William Penn Association, Mr. Elmer Vargo, Secretary, and Francis Furedy, Treasurer. Mr. Vargo urged everyone to become members of both societies, since there are (continued on page 19)
