FRATERNITY Page 9 BRANCH 31, LORAIN, OH STEVE DOHÁNYOS WAS GIVEN THE HONOR OF BEING THE OUTSTANDING HUNGARIAN MAN OF THE YEAR IN THE LO­RAIN COMMUNITY. Mr. Dohányos was born August 20, 1917 (St^ Stev­en’s Day) in Szolnacska and came to the US in the fall of 1934 at age 17. He lived all his life in the northern Ohio area, working in Huron and Elyria; entered the United States Army in 1942, and served in England. In 1946 he mar­ried Lena Childress in Washington, DC and re­turned to a job at US Steel where he worked for the next 43 years. Mr. Dohányos, now retired, is an active mem­ber of the following organizations: Lorain Hun­garian Reformed Church (for 50 years), on Church Consistory (27 years), Lorain Hungarian Reformed Church Sick Benefit Society (president for 35 years), co-founder of the Sick Benefit So­ciety Federal Credit Union (has prospered for the last 24 years), Board of Directors — Lake Erie Chapter of Credit Unions, Hungarian Reformed Federation of America, Hungarian Council of Lorain, Hungarian Young Men’s Club, American- Hungarian Citizen’s Club, St. Ladislaus Sick Ben­efit Society. Mr. Dohányos is a member of Branch 31, Lo­rain Ohio for the past 38 years. His wife and four children are all members of the Federation. Steve is very deserving of the honor bestowed upon him for his faithful service to the Hungarian people, the community and organizations. We congratulate Mr. Dohányos and wish to thank him for the many years of service to his com­munity! Emma Aros, Branch manager BRANCH 35, DETROIT, Ml The regular monthly meeting was held on Sun­day afternoon, January 20, 1985 at the Hungarian Reformed Church, Allen Park. The meeting was called to order at 2 p.m. by President Samuel Ves- premi. He welcomed the 15 members present. More of the members would have been present but due to the very cold weather and illness could Pres. Samuel Vespremi, Vice-Pres. Bishop Abra­ham, Sec. Louise Vespremi, Treasurer Elizabeth Toltessi and Compt. Steve Toltessi. not attend but promised to attend the next meet­ing. President called upon the Vice-President Bish­op Abraham to open the meeting with a prayer and all members repeated the Lord’s Prayer. Roll call of officers was taken by Secretary Louise Vespremi — all officers were present — President Samuel Vespremi; Vice-president Bish­op Abraham; Secretary Louise Vespremi; Treasur­er Elizabeth Töltési; Comptroller Steve Töltési. Branch Manager Ethel Teghze-Gerber and our Michigan delegate, Margaret Abraham were also present. President called upon the secretary to read the minutes of the December 1984 meeting. Motion made by Anna Bunna, seconded by Bishop Abra­ham that the minutes be accepted as read. Motion carried. OLD BUSINESS: President Vespremi bought up that at our last meeting a fund raising project was to be had about having a raffle and part of the money to go to the Student Aid Fund and the balance into our treasury. Members agreed and he will get a sponsor to handle the raffle ex­pense. Our sponsors happened to be members of the branch — Solosy and Son Funeral Home. President Vespremi went ahead and had the tickets printed and the following members don­ated the prizes. 1st prize — ham, donated by Sam­uel and Louise Vespremi; 2nd prize — Hungarian tablecloth, donated by Mr. and Mrs. Louis Bunna; 3rd prize— bottle of cheer, donated by Bill Ko­csis; 4th prize — fruit basket, donated by Ida Kish; 5th prize — blanket, donated bv Ethel
