Dr. Stephen Szabó, pastor of the congregation is an honorary vice-president of the HRFA. Dr. Tibor Köss, district manager reported that the Stephaneum in San Francisco is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. With the spiritual inspiration and financial help of Father Ferenc Nimrod a highly recognized physicist scientist the Stephaneum purchased its first building on Mission Street. Two years ago again with the help of the HRFA the Stephaneum purchased its 2nd modern and beautiful building in the downtown area of San Francisco. It has become the Hungarian cultural and ethnic heritage center of all the Hungarians residing in the greater San Francisco area. We encourage our members and friends to visit the Stephaneum Center. It is open to the public every Sunday. Delicious Hungarian meals are served to the members and guests. Western District Meeting Western District Meeting BUILDING PROJECTS OF THE BETHLEN HOME Upon recommendation of the Building Committee and the Board of Managers the Board of Directors of the BH and the HRFA unanimously voted for the three building projects of the Bethlen Home. The first project is the remodeling of the former print shop on the ground level to a museum, library, archive and meeting room with a 170 person seating capacity. It will also serve as a recreation, activity and social room for the residents of the BH. The second floor will be remodelled for the office of the Nursing Home. The present office room was too small and it can be utilized for special services required by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The estimate cost of the project is $100,000. The second project is building a new home for the administrator who with his predecessors lived in the small apartment on the second floor of the print shop. The Board of Directors had this project in mind for many years and we thank God for its realization this year. The new home will be ready for occupancy on January 1, 1980. The estimated cost of the new building is $95,000. The third project called the “Bethlen residential plan” is to provide independent retirement living in individual apartment units for a married couple or two persons related by blood or by marriage. The building cost of the first unit for two apartments and two garages is $50,000. This would serve the purpose of showing it to interested persons as a model home. We hope that the unit will be ready for occupancy in the early part of 1980. We appeal to the supporting congregations, societies, foundations and friends of the BH to help the Bethlen Home by their generous financial contributions in these three projects. We will gladly receive donations toward the general building project or designated donations to any of the three projects planned. (A.G.) 7
